- The Classics programme offered by University of Birmingham can lead to doctoral research, but also provides the chance to undertake scholarly research as an enrichment of undergraduate study or for career development purposes.

- Your research will be supported by three taught modules. A research skills training module equips you with a range of specialised and generic skills, including textual criticism, document handling, literary theory, information resources, thesis presentation and bibliographical management.
- Your remaining two modules are optional. Many students also opt to take further training in classical languages. In addition, you may choose modules from the MA Antiquity syllabus, which allows for interdisciplinary study of the ancient world. We also offer the opportunity to take modules from other related postgraduate programmes, such as Byzantine Studies. Further information on available modules can be found below.
- Birmingham's Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology graduates develop a broad range of transferable skills including: familiarity with research methods; the ability to manage large quantities of information from diverse sources; the ability to organise information in a logical and coherent manner; the expertise to write clearly and concisely and to tight deadlines; critical and analytical ability; the capacity for argument, debate and speculation; and the ability to base conclusions on statistical research.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have Bachelor's degree (4 years) from a recognized university and institution.
- Higher Mathematics and Physics or Engineering Science.
- An average GPA of 3.5 or more.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must have a minimum GPA of 65%-70%
- A four-year Bachelors degree (first-class or very good upper second class)
- Or A three-year Bachelor's degree (first-class) from recognized institutions in India.
- MSc programs the Business School will consider holders of three-year degree programs (first-class or very good upper second class) from recognized institutions in India.
- Standard English language requirements apply.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/PTE any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
