The programme provides opportunities for students to get hands-on experience inÊinternational development projectsÊwith organisations such as EngineerÕs Without Borders, Global Brigades andÊoptional summer schools in countries such as India, Mexico and Ethiopia.

The MSc provides a clear route to becoming a skilled engineer, actively involved with the challenges facingÊ

low-middle income regions globally.

To understand infrastructure delivery and design processes in resource limited settings and how to mobilise technical expertise to develop solutions in a global context. You will learn how to engage with local stakeholders effectively and how to address engineering challenges in a sustainable way.The wide range of taught modules, including engineering and international development, appropriate technologies, resilience, water and wastewater treatment, urban flooding and drainage, environmental modelling, GIS, natural and environmental disasters, will also provide the opportunity to understand and critically engage with the challenges and ethical dilemmas of working as an engineer in the global context and serving multiple potential clients.

Academic Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a degree with a 2:1 standard from a recognized university
  • Students with a 2:2 standard degree need relevant professional experience
