Why this Project Management and Innovation course from University of Strathclyde ?

Combining an analytical and hands-on approach to projects aimed at addressing real world issues critically and pragmatically, this new masters degree will fully prepare you for career opportunities in management and policy making positions in all sectors ranging from private firms (manufacturing, services, etc) to public organisations (government, health care, etc).

Course features

Among the distinctive features of the course are:

  • a highly practical, career-focused programme, addressing a global skills gap for effective project managers
  • core project management classes enhanced and embedded by professional development and project management in practice modules
  • a Consulting in Practice module, which provides an opportunity to put into practice all that you've learned from the programme and allows you, as part of a small team, to work on a live issue for a client organisation
  • collaboration and engagement with the UniversityÕs Technology & Innovation Centre and associated companies

Careers

A degree in project management is the ideal start to building a successful career in management.

Project management is used in all industry sectors. In engineering, construction and events management, business is fully managed using project-based structures and techniques. In areas such as finance, mass manufacturing and retail, project management is increasingly being adopted to improve business and enable change.

A project management graduate will find a variety of opportunities with many large companies hiring through graduate apprenticeship schemes. Once employed, a trainee project manager will begin by managing small-scale projects. However, due to the fast-moving nature of this work, and the exposure to the wider business and to senior management that this role affords, a competent practitioner will quickly progress to larger and more complex roles. These roles often encompass external facing responsibilities such as client liaison and supply chain control.
