- MA Photography course approaches photography as an expanded visual discipline. Students will be encouraged to confidently produce complex and extended photographic projects and engage with experimental and speculative approaches to making.
- University offers a dynamic and exciting environment for studying the critical theory of photography, engaging with practices of reading and writing about the image.
- The MA Photography course also pays close attention to the dissemination, exhibition, and publication of photographic work.
- University provides specialist digital and analog facilities for large-format colour and black-and-white exhibition prints.
- The course offers a balance of support that develops practical skills and fosters a high standard of diverse critical approaches. Students take risks, explore and develop their interests, and exchange, debate, and discuss ideas.
- Students will also respond to the diverse field of contemporary photography and explore practices of representation that engage with the still and moving image, as well as performance and installation. Their studies will be supported by a number of internationally renowned staff in a department that encourages experimentation.
- Enabling students to establish themselves as a rounded professional who can formulate ideas in a sophisticated framework whilst also communicating with others, both visually and verbally.
- University places a strong emphasis on publication, empowering students to find creative ways to disseminate their work beyond the academic context and into the public arena. The part-time version of this course has been suspended for 2021 entry.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Qualifications:
- Two year’s relevant work experience, demonstrating the ability to study at the postgraduate level.
- Postgraduate MA Courses - Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Postgraduate MBA Courses - A good Honours degree or equivalent qualification in the subject or a related discipline.
English Proficiency:
- Students should have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university (according to NARIC), where the Method of Instruction was entirely in English (teaching and assessment). (Note: The degree must have been completed within the last 2 academic years for an MOI to be accepted).
- Or, IELTS Academic for UKVI 6.0 (with no band below 5.5).
CV:
Up to date showing academic and professional achievements – required only for MBA applicants.
One letter of Recommendation:
This is only required from applicants who have been out of education for more than 2 years.
Certificate of Finance:
- Students will be required to submit a document that has at least 9 months of the UKVI's maintenance requirement which for all 4 campuses is £9135 (1015*9) PLUS any unpaid course fees.
- The money needs to be in the form of cash funds and has been held for a minimum of 28 days and the statement cannot be older than 31 days.
Copy of Passport:
Clear scanned copy of all pages and previous UK visas including CAS (if applicable).
Immigration Form:
A paper form will be sent to students from the admissions team (after the deposit had been paid) asking students to complete details with regards to immigration history.
