The main thrust of the course is based on the disciplines of sport and exercise physiology, biomechanics and psycholog?y, with an option theme of study based on either performance analysis, sports coaching, strength and conditioning or fitness instruction and personal training. ?

BSc Sport and Exercise Science (Hons) at Cardiff Metropolitan University students will follow a dedicated pathway throughout the three levels that focuses on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary aspects of Sport and Exercise Science with a high level of vocational relevance and experience.Ê

Learning, teaching and assessment methods have been selected to ensure the educational aims and the learning outcomes of individual modules, as well as the programme as a whole are achieved.

The learning and teaching methods include lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials and you will beÊ supported in these sessions via a Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle). Weekly lead lectures introduce key topics and concepts, which are developed through a range other learning and teaching methods You are also able to meet tutors or any other members of staff on a one to one basis. As a school, we are keen to implement the principal aim of Cardiff Metropolitan University's Learning, Teaching and Assessment strategy: To provide student-centered learning opportunities that deliver a quality and flexible learning environment.

Employability & Careers:

This course will prepare you to follow a career in sport and exercise science, fitness testing, instruction and health promotion, teaching and lecturing in primary, secondary and higher education, coaching, and in performance analysis within high performance and community levels of sport. In addition, our graduates have obtained roles in national governing bodies, sports institutes, and non-sporting areas (e.g., business and health).

For example, past graduates have gone on to study physiotherapy, medicine, chiropractic and nursing, while others have obtained employment as scientific support personnel (e.g., in fitness, biomechanics, physiology, psychology and performance analysis) for regional and international rugby teams, golf unions, professional football teams, the English Institute of Sport, Sport Wales, and lecturing globally in sport and exercise science related areas. The subjects studied and skills learnt give graduates the opportunity to continue their education to Master and Doctorate level or undertake a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) for example.
