2+2 program lets me learn and go to a different part of the world and get educated at the same time which was desirable to make me a more global person. In addition to that, Heriot-Watt was a well-known university that had good accreditation like from IMechE.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is good but it could be pushed forward a bit meaning some of the stuff I'm doing in the 3rd year could've been done in the 2nd year because 1st year is mainly just basic stuff that most of us did in high school.
Exams
SAT, Taken university course exams multiple times, ACT, TOEFL. I hope to take the GRE soon though. Might also take IELTS.
Placement
Job opportunities are nice and plentiful. I do not know much about placements yet but I have seen a lot of alumni work at good companies on LinkedIn so I hope they are good as well. The university has a daily letterbox that you can sign up for that will send you placements the careers services receive and knows about and that has helped me for several applications. In addition, personal tutors and heads of departments also send students some opportunities for internships.
Internship
The university does some internships but does not sponsor you for any. However they are very helpful in helping you get one and the careers services is a wonderful experience and they make sure they answer all your questions.
Events
Diwali, Oktoberfest, St. Patricks day, easter, Halloween, most major festivals, pancake day, Christmas. All the events are celebrated at the student union and are arranged pretty well. They are fun and ensured to be as close to authentic celebrations as possible without the cost being too expensive.
Fees
14148 pounds for as a go global student and since I live in campus in the more expensive dorms the total is approximately 20000 pounds per year.
Scholarship
Yes. Depending on your school grades the university provided your scholarship. If you got a 50% scholarship, it would be 50% of the first year split over the course of your university.
Examination Structure
For most of the subjects, the exams weigh 60% of your grade. The exams in 1st semester (December) run for 2 weeks right after the term (the most hectic semester). The exams in the second semester (April/May) run for 3 weeks after 3 weeks break which is good.
Faculty
The faculty is mostly good. The teachers know their stuff and are passionate about what they do and very open-minded to ideas and potential projects to help you earn experience and interest. As in any uni 1 or 2 teachers were below average but I blame that on the organization of the course: the teacher was not supposed to do the course but got put last minute with no prep.
Hostel
Campus hostel is better but some of my friends live off-campus as well in student accommodation because they go out more. There is a student accommodation called Millhouse 30 minutes away that works for students who want to go out often and live near the city.
