I chose Heriot-Watt University because of their faculty and the opportunities it offers. The teachers who teach this program are highly qualified and really helpful too. Also the course coordinators and other staff members were helpful.
Course Curriculum
It is very well relevant and updated from time to time. The faculty is also highly informative and qualified. They teach in the best possible way. They help students with questions and concerns as quickly as possible. They are really helpful. The course material and assignments are also updated regularly by including current events happening around us.
Exams
I need to meet the criteria of having a minimum of 60% from my undergraduate degree to be eligible to apply to the university. Then I was asked to answer some questions which were related to the syllabus to check whether I was suitable for the course or not.
Placement
There are a lot of job opportunities/research options available to the students after their studies. A number of companies have visited and still do visit the university to let students know about the job opportunities available. Also, there are various graduate programs which enable students to get a job for 2-3 years after graduation.
Internship
Yes. I am currently interning as an administrative assistant. We had the option to choose the place where we wanted to do the internship. Some of these were unpaid and most were paid. Options were available between companies and professional departments within the university. To secure the internship we had to submit an application, pass an assessment and interview. Salary is based on the national pay rate and depends on the firm we work in.
Events
The campus is really nice and well maintained. The infrastructure is modern and has all the necessary requirements that a university should have. The laboratories are well-maintained and adequate for all practical and research related activities. The entire campus has WiFi and sports facilities.
Fees
My course fee was around £15,000 for 2 years.
Scholarship
I was a late applicant to university and therefore missed out on several scholarships. I got a £1500 scholarship when I applied. After registering for my courses, I was shortchanged by a further £1500.
Faculty
The faculty is really good and the number of students is adequate. They are down-to-earth and easily approachable. They try to solve the queries and concerns as soon as possible and guide the students in various matters. My course professors and course director/coordinator have been really helpful in providing information, support and resolving my concerns.
Hostel
University accommodation options are available if students wish. The room charges depend on the type of accommodation the students want. Private en suite rooms, studios or common rooms. It starts at £98 per week and goes up to around £300 per week. University rooms are for one person's use and are not shared.
