Mathematics is essential for an understanding of modern economics. A degree combining these two strongly related disciplines gives students the opportunity to study both economics and mathematics in depth and enables them to acquire the technical aptitude and analytical skills to proceed to a successful career in finance, business, and many other fields or to proceed to further study.
The Department of Mathematics is internationally renowned for its teaching and research in mathematics related to the social sciences, particularly the mathematics necessary for understanding economics.
The program is taught jointly with LSE's world-class Department of Economics and enables students to build a strong quantitative knowledge base increasingly important for a successful career in economics and finance.

Academic Eligibility:

The standard entry requirement of this program is:
- A level Mathematics with grade A*, or International Baccalaureate Diploma with 7 in Higher Level Mathematics (or equivalent).
- AA* A A, with A* in Mathematics. Further Mathematics A level is highly recommended. Students not taking Further Mathematics to A level will normally be required to achieve grade A in Further Mathematics AS level in addition to A* (Mathematics) A A at A level.
- IB: 38 points with 766 in higher level subjects, including Mathematics.
Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission to this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

The student has graduated from senior secondary school or equivalent (those applying for a postgraduate program must have graduated from a university or college).
Students completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a grade point average of 3.00 or 60% in the final years of the program.
