Remarks

I had to take the management seat route as I could not prepare for EAMCET examination. I did not have enough time to prepare due to domestic problems and that is also the reason I started my degree at the age of 20. I was previously in the aviation sector as a student pilot and made a switch to engineering due to unforeseen circumstances. I chose this college specifically due to it's proximity from my residence and the quality of the courses provided. There is no college specific entrance exam and all the students either enroll based on their EAMCET ranks or Management. Cut offs for each branch for a General student are as listed: 1. Computer Science Engineering: 39,610 2. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: 1,48,349 3. Electronics and Communication Engineering: 44,985 The process for EAMCET is as follows: First step after receiving the email regarding the selected colleges is received, One must have their documents like Aadhar card, Transfer Certificate, 10th and Intermediate mark sheet and memo respectively at the nearest verification center from the list sent to the candidate. After document verification, The candidate must visit the college with 3 xerox copies of each document, arranged in a specified order and visit the department in which they have secured a seat. Here, The candidate and their guardian are explained the necessary details and a fee is to be paid. The overall admission process is streamlined and hassle free. The college ensure this by providing ample workforce which helps keep the process quick and efficient without any hiccups or scope for misinformation.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

On an average, A class consists of 60-65 Students and there are currently 250 students enrolled in Computer Science Engineering for my year of enrollment. The girls:boy ratio is currently at 4:9 i.e. There are 4 girls for every 9 boys in a class. This ratio is fairly consistent across all branches at any given time. Coming to cultural diversity, The student demographic comprises mostly of students belonging to a Telugu household and hail from either Telangana or Andhra Pradesh. There also students from the North: Specifically Haryana and Gujarat at the college as well. In conclusion, While there are students from North India as well, Majority are of South Indian descent particularly Telugu. The peer group is great. With students with different educational background coming together to help each other out during projects, assignments and examinations. The diverse educational background helps in diverse point of views and teaching within in a group which leads to better understanding of subjects and concepts overall. While there are no marks awarded for just attending a class, 5 marks are reserved for Day to Day evaluation of student by the professor. This includes punctuality, regularity to class, Promptness of assignment/project submission and general performance in the subject. From what I have observed, Students do attend classes regularly to learn. While outliers exist who prefer to learn on their own, The vast majority are dependent on the professors for teaching and hence do attend with an intention to learn.

Internships Opportunities

4

There is no dedicated summer internship program in the college. Any and all internships have to be procured by the student alone on their own time and effort by personally reaching out to companies. There is no data regarding the internships offered to students as it is a very individual case and the college plays no role in it. For Computer Science Engineering, The preferred companies include Google, Microsoft, Amazon. Infosys, TCS, Accenture to name a few. These companies are either product or service based and rely heavily on programmers and engineers to refine, fix and develop new products for their clients. They specifically require engineers who are proficient programmers with real world experience like internships or projects to help build their products and services better. At our college, The mass recruiter is TCS at an average package of 3.6 LPA or 30,000 per month roughly. There have been no reports of any Pre-placement offers being handed to interns as the majority directly sit for placements instead of interning first. Internship scenario is not as strong in general and it is even more bleak for branches other than CSE with the students facing the same struggles but with lesser oppurtunities.

Placement Experience

4

Final placements usually start in 4th year with the conclusion of campus recruitment training. The drive usually lasts a month to two from the initial screening till the final interview. However on an average 45% of the students are placed during campus recruitment with an average salary of 4.2 LPA, The lowest CTC stands at 2.4 LPA and the highest at 8 LPA. The most preferred companies would be TCS and Infosys for my course during campus placements and their average CTCs stand at 3.6 LPA and 4 LPA respectively. TCS is the mass recruiter with an average CTC of 3.6 LPA. The placement committee oversees everything from recruitment training to bringing the companies to the campus and everything in between. They are transparent from the get go and maintain it till the candidate lands a job. They also play a crucial role not only in the technical training aspect but also in helping students imbibe soft skills and improve their communication skills which are just as necessary from a job point of view. (NO JOB OFFER LETTER PHOTO COULD BE PROCURED BELOW)

Fees and Financial Aid

For Computer Science Engineering, The per annum fee stands at 1.15 Lakh(Subject to change). There is a department specific additional fee liable to be paid during seat confirmation which varies by department and the year applied, Average amount is 15,000/- INR. There is no mess service provided in the college, The college has a cafeteria where students can choose from a menu with a variety of options, Offering options from snacks to full meals. The transportation fee varies based on the distance covered, For example, For a distance of 10 Kilometers, The average bus fee per annum is 40,000/- INR. The college provides a mean for scholarships from the government for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Tribes and it is on an average 35,000 to 45,000/- INR. For candidates who have secured a good rank in EAMCET, Fee is negotiable on a case to case basis. I will be paying approximately 4,60,000/- INR for the entire duration of my degree at the institute.

Campus Life

4

The college has a vast ground for sports like cricket and basketball with a well maintained pitch and timely trimming of the grass. Goal posts are also present for football at the extremities of the ground providing a vast playing field suitable for professional events. There is also a dedicated basketball court(outdoor) as well as grounds with nets for volleyball and badminton. The necessary equipment such as balls, bats, and other miscellaneous equipment are readily available in the dedicated sports room. The college also has a gym with basic weight training equipment like machines and dumbbells and it is open to students during the SPORTS hour. The auditorium is one of the main highlights of the college, Providing ample and comfortable seating for students with air conditioning and industry standard speakers and projectors for presentations and events. It can seat approximately 350-400 students at a time excluding the seating for professors. The library is vast and very neatly maintained. It spans over two floors and strict guidelines regarding the condition of the books borrowed ensures that all the available material is always in a neat and tidy condition whenever borrowed. The library has all the books from First till Final year and in sufficient numbers so that the students do not face a shortage. A book search service is provided in the student portal. The college spans over several acres and student accommodation while not directly provided, Is within a short radius of the college thanks to many third party hostels in the area. Most students prefer College transportation whereas others use public transport like City Bus and share autos operating in the region. Students are permitted to bring bikes which can be parked outside alongside the perimeter as well as a dedicated parking inside the campus for both bikes and cars. There are a few restaurants within a walking distance from the campus where students can go for snacks and meals after hours. The college also has a juice center as well as fast food stalls on-site. The college does have a dedicated medical center run by well qualified nurses and is equipped with necessary first aid and medicines to respond effectively to any mishaps.Overall, The campus life is pleasant. The lush greenery provides a relaxing break after a day of classes. The professors and management do a good job to not stress students out too much with overbearing workload. Since the college gates close by 6PM, Students and faculty typically go back to their residences. Within the campus the ground and the cafeteria are the two hotspots where students meet in free time. The weather is often breezy and with benches everywhere, It is a calm place for students to decompress after a long day of classes. The campus is surrounded by family housing in the immediate area with gated communities being a 10-15 minute walk from campus, The area is generally safe, However, Caution must be exercised at night due to absence of street lights which may lead to someone tripping and falling into the tall grass. There are no clubs as of now. There is no facility for international students. The college is a favorite spot for movie direction, With celebs like Naga Chaitanya, Vishvak Sen, Minakshi Choudhary having visited the college. The college has an Annual Day and a Cultural Day. Annual day is a mostly evening to night event with famous singers like Ram Miriyala having attended the event to perform.

Hostel Facilities

4

The college does not provide any hostel facility. Students coming from other cities have to make personal arrangements with regards to their accommodation. Coming to the food quality in the common cafeteria, It is good and value for money in terms of taste and quality consistency. The food menu does not change as often but it already provides a wide range of options so a constantly changing menu is not necessary. The college does not provide any hostel facility. Washroom provided in general are neat and tidy with cleaning taking place every morning and afternoon. The sinks, Toilets and bidets are cleaned and repaired as needed with promptness.

Exam Structure

There is no college specific examination conducted per se, All the enrolled students either secure the seat with their EAMCET rank or Management Quota. For students planning on securing the seat via EAMCET, Upon receiving their rank, They must first shortlist the college in their list. Upon successful shortlisting of the candidate, They are required to have documents like Aadhar Card, 10th Marksheet, Intermediate Marks Memo, Transfer Certificate etc. verified from the nearest verification center of which they will be informed in advance, A list of verification centers will be sent to the candidate. Post successful verification, The candidate must take 3 xerox copies of each document and arrange them in an order specified by the college and reach the college. Now, The candidate must head to the department under which they have secured a seat and pay a small department specific seat after discussing the details with the staff. For example: If the results for EAMCET were released 25-08-2022, The counselling process and admission were concluded 10-09-2022, So an approximate duration for the admission process would be about 2 weeks. Classes commenced on 02-11-2022 so the total time from declaration of results till commencement of classes is about 69 days or approximately 2 months. For a General student, A decent rank to aim for to secure a seat in Computer Science Engineering at Sreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology would lie in the range of 24,000 to 30,000 however a higher percentile is always helpful. Management Quotas exist but are limited in number, Specific and current details regarding costs are always changing but an average range is 1.65L- 2.2L for a seat in Computer Science Engineering. College authorities need to be contacted for this mode of admission for the latest prices and processes.

The course curriculum to me initially seemed a little difficult, but that could be because of my background solely in science. Over the terms, it got easier to catch up and understand and participate in classes. Students sometimes do fail and give repeat examinations but those cases are rare. Some good aspects of the course are the diverse choice in elective subjects that we get to choose from to study along with our major specialisation. The bad aspect however sometimes is that we choose a subject thinking it would be more practical but it ends up being too much theory which is not admired by students these days. We have about 15-20 exams every year plus 2-3 quizzes each subject that makes it up to 50-60 quizzes in a year. The usual class timings for first year are 9 am to 5 pm however our classes in second year range from 8:30 am to somewhere around 9 pm on some days but these are not regular back to back classes. Students have ample free time to go out and also take part in student clubs and committees work for events. In second year, we have more hours of free time as we only have 1-2 classes a day which is about 1.5-3 hrs of classes and rest of the day is free. The teaching methodology used in class is case-based learning. The faculties I admire the most are Prof. Juhi Gahlot Sarkar and Prof. Tripti Ghosh Sharma. Their classes have by far been the most interesting and interactive to me. I don’t think there are professors who people don’t like. There is an attendance rule where in we need to have at least 80% attendance in every subject below which, with each missed class, we get a grade loss that shows effect in our final gpa of the term.

There are no internship programmes for the MA programmes at EFLU although BA students and B.ed students have a summer internship programme specific to their courses. I have heard they have been very successful especially the internship programmes of the B.ed courses. These internships happen to be all unpaid and work is conducted under NGOs like Nirmaan.org and Youngistaan.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Sreyas usually start in the final semester; this covers January till April or May, depending on the participating companies and their recruitment schedules. The process gets formally closed once all the companies get completed with their recruitment rounds. Closing off the process takes an enormous amount of time owing to the fact that it takes such a long time for the companies to finalize their decisions. Though a vast majority of students do get placements, not everyone is placed. On an average, 50-65% of students get jobs through the college placement drive. The balance students who do not get a job are sometimes left high and dry. The college usually repeats the placement drives for such students, conducts some workshops or resume preparation sessions, and pushes them to apply independently also. Compensation-wise, the average CTC of graduated offers would be around 6-8 LPA, though the highest offers are all around 15-20 LPA. Even some students receive lower packages, mostly those positions offered in small companies or startups that see CTCs at times going as low as 4 LPA. These are the preferred companies by the Computer Science graduates at Sreyas: Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, as well as TCS and Infosys, mainly because of their reputation, career growth, and quality work experience offered. The average CTCs for these companies are between 8-12 LPA, hence they become very popular. Apart from these premier firms, there are many companies, mainly IT and consultancy-based organizations, which recruit in bulk during the placement drives. Wipro, Cognizant, and Accenture, among others, are common recruiters for such organizations and usually offer 5-7 LPA with average CTCs. The placement committee works extensively to build a connection between students and potential employers and does all the background work for the entire placement process. They organize campus recruitment, assist in conducting interviews, and guide students in resume preparation as well as interview skills. According to them, the process is highly transparent, although they have some issues related to the selection criteria of the companies and their communication regarding placement statistics. Thus, effective and transparent placement may vary from person to person with respective experiences and expectations.(BLANK PICTURE UPLOADED)

Placement Experience:

Final placements at Sreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology usually start during the last semester, which is around November, and may go on up to April. The placement may take four to five months to actually come to a conclusive end depending on the number of companies visiting and preparation level of the students. Even though a sizeable number of students are placed, under the rule, there is always an unplaced percentage, and that number usually runs in the tune of anywhere between 10-15%. Support to these students is provided through workshops, mock interviews, and resume-building sessions, besides, one-to-one mentorship, for improving employability. The placement cell also constantly tries to reach out to a much wider networking system and is often in touch with industries to get information relating to the potential job openings that may come up. The average CTC offered to students goes somewhere around INR 3,00,000 to INR 6,00,000 per year and the highest CTC goes up to INR 10,00,000 or more for the best-performing students. The lowest CTC usually touches around the amount of INR 2,00,000 per year. Preferred companies for engineers are usually tech giants like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and a lot more. These companies are preferred for all reasons related to reputation, training, and career prospects. The average CTC from those offers would range between INR 3,50,000 to INR 6,00,000. Companies that hire in bulk are TCS, Wipro, and Cognizant. Average offers receive average of INR 3,00,000 to INR 5,00,000. The placement committee is crucial for coordination of the whole placement process, right from inviting companies to arranging interviews and facilitating communication concerning students as well as recruiters. Though most of the students opine that this whole process is transparent in general, some feel that there is a lack of clarity on the criteria for the selection of candidates, primarily concerning which students get priority for interviews or placement. Ideally, it attempts equity in general, but the method of communicating can be improved.(BLANK PICTURE UPLOADED AS NO DOCUMENTS AVAILABLE)
