EXPERIENCE OF A SMALL CITY GIRL (WHO CAN'T COMMUNICATE) IN A SMALLER VILLAGE

Remarks :

You've to study science courses in 12th standard. After that, you may give either ICAR or CUET. I took the ICAR exam and my rank was about 2000. Got this You have to appear for the exam and score good or mediocre. Mine ranged to 390. The fee for this University was much less and was the main reason for being my choice. Upload all the necessary documents and wait for allotment. After you get the college, you need to pay 10,000 rupees in advance to ICAR. Submit the provisional admission letter at the time of class commencement and pay the remaining fee. ICAR students have to pay 16k per month while the university fee for the same course is 8k in the first year and 2500 for the rest. That seems a little odd but you'll have to pay the university fee only.

Course Curriculum Overview :

All the teachers have PhDs and are either professors or assistant professors. Since most if the students are from Bengal, they teach mostly in Bengali and you've asked each time for them to speak in English. But otherwise, they'll clear all the doubts and the university has numerous libraries constituting a network. You can enter any one of them and have access to all the books. You're also provided with University wifi that can be accessed from anywhere inside the campus. Exams were conducted within 1 month and didn't stretch too long. They are of the correct difficulty level, not too simple nor too difficult. Most of the time, the notes provided by teachers are enough.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee is pretty less here. 8000 for the first year and 2500 for the next three years. You'll get a scholarship if you're Bengali but if you're not, you'll have to apply for some other scholarship. ICAR students from outside their native place get a scholarship of 3k per month. But this won't be provided monthly. You'll get your scholarship only after a year. You'll have to beg the officers for your right. Universities provide scholarships for people who don't get any scholarships. I couldn't get any job on campus.

Campus Life :

There are no annual fests here. Only freshers, teachers' day and other all University programs. There are no art fests or things kike that. You'll get all the books i.e. only study related in the college library network. The classroom has light and fan, a projector or smart board. There are no other facilities. The washrooms are cleaned thrice per year in and are in very pathetic condition. Competition of football or cricket for men takes place but nothing for women.

Hostel Facilities :

You'll get a hostel room and can choose between single, triple or five seater rooms. It has windows and ventilation. Provided with separate tables, chairs and table lamps for each. Beds and almirah for each. A hostel meal is not good enough. It's all boiled potato and broth and are pretty expensive. You'll have to fill out a Google form provided by the office and based on your distance from home, you'll be given a mark and accordingly provided the room I rented a room in both Bolpur and Sriniketan.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am pursuing a Bsc. Agriculture as I came to know about the job opportunities associated with it. Faculty: The student ratio is poor because of a lack of recruitment in this sector for a long time. Quality of teaching is average because there are a limited number of teachers who could inculcate our interest in this subject through their good teaching methods. Others were just presenting slides and reading out the lines written on them. Random announcement of exams was frequent with only 40 percent syllabus completed in 3 months and 60 percent syllabus completed only 10 days before the exam. Moreover, there were midterm, endterm, and viva throughout 1 month and it was very hectic due to continuous 33 exam papers conducted at a time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

India is an agriculture-dependent country where more than 70% of the people are involved in agriculture and allied sectors, there is a huge scope for improvement and modernization. The faculty and profs are very helpful, no extra tuition is needed, library is available. Exams are not that punctual but moderately easy to pass.

I belong to an agricultural background. I have some field knowledge about agriculture. That's why I wanted to gain more knowledge in the agriculture sector. This is because I opted for this course. The faculty-to-student ratio is very good. Teachers are highly qualified and teaching method is also good. The term exams are difficult but as the teaching is good the exams are easy

From the 7th semester, students become eligible for the campus Placements. Various Seed Companies Fertilizers companies and many other private companies are visited and various offers are made. The highest Package was 720000 per annum and the average package was 480000 per annum. About 30 to 40 percent of students are getting placements. My plan is to take a placement offered by the Company.
