The Good and bad sides of SJU

Remarks :

The eligibility for the course was 55% marks in the 12th examination. The admission process for me was to discuss documents since I had a direct link with the authorities. I was also given a 20% discount through a recommendation letter. The admission application form can be found at the counter inside the university campus. The admission process is ok but then the payment in one installment should be divided into 2 installments for the convenience of people who have low economic status.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose BSW because I want to be a professional social worker and also for my personality development. There are a total of 8 teachers in the department and they are all very approachable and friendly. They always help the students in effective learning. There are a total of 2 internal exams which have 2 units each and the end-semester exam.

Internships Opportunities :

As a social worker, my batch had our internship in different social work agencies. I and my team had our internship in the Serendip Guardian located in 7th-mile Dimapur. The institution taught us about mental health, mental problems, and mental illness.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure for the BSW course is 17,500 per semester. The students receive the opportunity to appeal for both state and national scholarships. However, the scholarships are always late to receive. The fee hike for the hostel fees is seen often semesters though the facilities don't improve.

Campus Life :

Life on campus is good. The university provides a good platform for theory learning but the program has its own disadvantages. The university is only concerned with book learning and other literary programs must be improved in conduct. The university has a big library where all types of books belonging to different streams are available. The sports are games are NIL as not all students are given equal opportunity. The university does not give much focus on sports and games.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is the most negative side of the University. Its fees are high but the facilities don't improve or are not given as promised. The meal is the worst thing about the hostel as the quality of cooking is not good . The registration process is direct interview or recommendation from the authorities and it's 29500 for non-attached and 32000 for attached rooms

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason I chose this course was that I wanted to do something to society by bringing change to society as a social changer.. The faculty are around 20 in my department and the students are about 200+. The qualification of the teaching faculty is that every lecturer or teaching faculty has a master's degree. There are 3 exams in a single semester one final and the other two for the internal marks exam and the exams are not exactly too hard but not too easy too.
