When applying to XLRI Jamshedpur, you will not benefit from your studies at St Xavier's Calcutta. Only a strong profile, a high XAT score, and a strong performance in the GD/PI will help you gain admission to XLRI. Good grades, a reputable undergraduate college, relevant work experience, and any other achievements all contribute to a strong profile. A high XAT score is typically in the 98th percentile or higher. Finally, a strong showing in the GD/PI is essential for acceptance.

It is important to note that religion, caste, wealth, and family background will not be considered in the admissions process. Only the three previously mentioned factors will be considered.

XLRI Jamshedpur looks for students who have exemplary profiles. If you have excellent scores in 10th, 12th, and graduation; then you will be a good candidate. In addition to that, you must have a very good CAT/XAT/GMAT score by clearing the sectional cut-offs.

Having work experience adds greatly if your career graph is consistently going upwards. The XLRI administration can gauge the true potential through your performance in interviews so they do not look for references. They are on the lookout for students who can lead.

My cousin did his MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur. He studied at a local Marathi medium school located in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Following is his profile:

SSC

90%

HSC

90%

Graduation (MBBS)

1st Division

Work Experience

7 years in Clinical Work & Management

GMAT Score

650

Despite his academic background, he got selected for a one-year full-time MBA i.e. PGDM-GM from XLRI.

Your selection in XLRI is solely based on your academic scores, personality, and aptitude. Also, you have to clear the components given below to get selected in XLRI.

  • Work Experience: At least 5 years in any of the following: Full-time Executive/Managerial/Teaching/Research experience.
  • Aptitude (General Knowledge, Essay and Behavioral questions)
  • Group Discussion
  • Personal Interview

The institute looks for candidates with leadership potential which should be proven either in academics/ extra-curricular activities or in work experience. Therefore, I advise you to work on your profile.
