You should join NITIE. Although it is mostly known for Supply Chain and Operations, it offers good opportunities in other industries as well. NITIE placements trends reveal that recruiters from FMCGs, BFSI, consulting sector, and IT/E-commerce also visit the campus placements. So, you will have better chances of landing a job in a leading company. According to the placements highlights of 2022, the average CTC for NITIE stood around INR 25 LPA.

IIM Indore has a huge batch size. While the batch size of NITIE is concise, students get the required attention from teachers. The location of NITIE is also favorable. Doing an MBA from Mumbai will definitely help you get good internship and placement opportunities.

Following are the reasons why you should choose NITIE over IIM Indore.

  • Location - As NITIE is located in the finance capital of the country, you will have better internships and weekend projects options.
  • Batch Strength - Batch strength of NITIE is almost half of IIM Indore. The huge batch size makes placement harder.
  • Placements -  The median salary and average salary for NITIE and IIM Indore are almost the same. In fact, for the past few years, the salary trends for NITIE have been higher than IIM I. In the 2022 placement drive, the average CTC offered at NITIE was 25 LPA.
  • Job profile - There is a misconception that NITIE is only good for supply chain and operation placements. Contrary to this popular belief, NITIE offers good placement opportunities in BFSI, Analytics, Consulting, and IT as well.
  • Alumni Network - NITIE has a huge alumni network in the supply chain domain.
  • Batch Profile - Compared to IIM Indore, NITIE has a more diverse batch profile.

Both NITIE and IIM Indore are top colleges for Business management courses and choosing between these two is really a tough decision.

But having friends there, I would suggest you go for NITIE over IIM Indore due to the following reasons.

  • The placements are very good especially for marketing and sales profiles from FMCG companies like P&G, Hindustan Unilever Limited, and many others.
  • Many students have also got internships in marketing roles like B2B marketing, Digital Marketing from companies like Abbott, P&G, Hindustan Unilever Limited.
  • Many banking and financial institutions like Yes Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Fidelity, etc. have been visiting the campus.
  • E-commerce sector companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Cloudtail, Optum have also recruited many students in various positions.

There is a lot more competition for placements at IIM Indore and securing a job is very tough there.

If you prefer to study in a competitive environment, it will be better to join NITIE as all the major companies visit the campus and offer higher packages. It might not have the IIM tag but it is definitely a better institution than IIM Indore.
