I'm getting PEC CSE (Chandigarh quota). I'm also thinking to take a drop and give JEE next year. Is it wise?

The answer probably is no. It is because you cannot always be certain about what the future beholds. My brother secured himself ECE in PEC Chandigarh some years back and pursued it. While at the same time, some of his friends decided to take another chance with JEE and dropped. There was no significant variation that they could achieve, which is rather unfortunate enough. But, at the same time, it depends on how your preparations are in the meantime.

If you choose to drop, there will be several issues you have to face. You are most likely to experience pressure to perform well by peers and family. One of my brother’s friends who dropped never actually scored below 180 in the institute’s mock tests, however, he missed even touching 180 in the examination only because of his state of mind a few days before the main test, during his revision period. That means, there can be uncertain events. 

CSE at PEC Chandigarh is not a bad choice. It has decent placement statistics, you can check the official website for the same. The crucial point is having a backup plan regardless of the circumstance. It will help you support your own probable situations if you opt to take the examination.

Having said that, preparing for JEE mains yet again, while you pursue a degree is not that difficult if you are preserving.
