What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at NIT Raipur?

Here is the list of tips that will make you survive in the first year at NIT Raipur.

1. The first year is where you should explore many subjects and areas instead of deciding your subject expertise. 
2. There are numerous PGs and private hostels in Raipur. You can live there if you do not get a hostel. Living in a hostel can create tension and uneasiness among students.
3. Always refer to good author textbooks, even if professors didn’t suggest that to you. For example, refer to Thomas Cormen’s Introduction to Algorithms instead of Schaum’s Series for Data Structures. 
4. Do not take any stress and find your own solutions to problems. Even if you want to change your branch, then go ahead with it.
5. Make a good connection with seniors. Their experience can guide you for good.
6. There are lots of committees in NIT. You can volunteer as much as you can. It will make you learn about them and enhance your personality. But don’t compromise your studies. You can also choose to not be a part of any committee, it solely depends on you.
7. Behind the campus area, there is a place called Kota. Whatever you need in your college days as a student you will get here.
8. You will find a student organization on the campus. It provides all second-hand materials such as books, scientific calculators, previous year question paper, notes, etc. You can contact them via Facebook or on other social media handles.
9. Get your books issued from the library in the early semester. As books will run out. At a time you can only get two books. Students also get up to four books through Book Bank sections.
