Is branch change option available in NIT Raipur?

Yes, there is a branch sliding option as called in every NIT. With this option, you can change your branch after successfully completing your 1st year. Branch sliding against vacant seats is handled by a committee especially dedicated for this purpose. The present position of vacant seats, branch wise is released at the end of the first year.

You will need to apply through an application form which will be available on the institute’s official website. Then you have to submit the filled application form along with photocopies of required documents before the given deadline. Here are some rules regarding branch sliding at NIT Raipur:

• You shall be permitted for Change of branch if you have a CPI 7.5 or above at the end of the 2nd semester in a single attempt only.
• You are advised to consult your parents/guardians before making the choice of the branch to be submitted. Thereafter, you will not be allowed to withdraw your application regarding a change of branch. Branch once allotted will be final and can’t be changed later.
• You can enlist up to 10 choices of the branch in order of preference to which you wish to change over. It will not be permissible to alter the choices after the application has been submitted.

Note: The branch is allotted to you on the basis of your CPI. This simply means that people having higher CPI will be given preference according to their choice.
