Working hard pays off. You will undoubtedly get upgraded if refrain from relaxing or participating in pointless activities. Develop some appealing skills as well, as this is more common in campus selection.

Your grade point average should be higher than 8.5. However, it is difficult. To advance in your branch, you must work hard during your first year. If you're thinking about attending CSE, your chances are slim. Because very few students are capable of doing so. However, you can choose ECE because it is also very good for placement at NIT Jalandhar.

Yes, branch upgradation is possible in every branch at NIT Jalandhar based on certain criteria and availability of seats. My brother attended NIT Jalandhar and he opted for a branch change. So, I know about the process a little bit.

Following is some information about the entire process that you have to go through while applying for up-gradation in NIT Jalandhar.

  • Applications for branch change are invited from 2nd-year students, mostly during the month of July.
  • The criteria of branch up-gradation depend upon the category of the student. For General and OBC students, a minimum CGPA of 7.5 is necessary, and for SC and ST students, it is 6.5. There is a separate number of seats allotted for each category- General, OBC, SC, and ST.
  • Based on the number of seats available for a specific category, the candidate with the maximum CGPA gets preference over the other students.
  • For general category students, a maximum of 4 students can get up-gradation from a single branch in NIT Jalandhar, based on CGPA.
  • CGPA is the only mode of selection for up-gradation, for individual categories.

Though it is possible, there is very little chance for average CGPA holders to get upgraded, due to low seat availability.
