First and foremost,start your preparation early on.

Begin with coaching material from TIME or Career Launcher. The books from these two coaching institutes are good. Apart from the study material from coaching centers, here’s a list of books which will prepare you well for CAT-

QUANTS- “How to Prepare for Quantitative Aptitude for CAT”
LOGICAL REASONING- “How to Prepare for Logical Reasoning for CAT”
ENGLISH- “How to Prepare for Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension for CAT”
VOCAB- “Word Power Made Easy”
PREVIOUS PAPERS- “Previous Years CAT Solved Papers”

Try to solve each question from these books, and do not waste your time on any more books/notes than the ones prescribed above. Buy the latest edition books. If you live in Delhi NCR, you can buy coaching study material in NAI-SARAK (chawri bazar metro station) for less than Rs. 1000.

Prepare well for CAT, and you are sure to get into the top IIMs, even IIM Ahmedabad.

Because nothing is certain in CAT, no book is sufficient. Everything is a roll of the dice. Exercise with previous Mocks, Read for 40-60 minutes every day to complete the quant syllabus and maximize your score in your strong area. If you want a book, try quantum CAT. If you want more clarity, compare CAT papers and Arun Sharma's answers.

Simply trying to improve your content knowledge and familiarity with a variety of questions will help you solve questions faster in the exam. Books aren't all that great because

1. There isn't much variety in the questions.

2. Not updated using the standard methodology

3. A lack of quality and conceptual issues in one location.
