What are the true average placement numbers (CTC) for IIM Kozhikode?

There seems to be a lot of discrepancy in their report. Placements are known to inflate going by the type of companies visiting the campus. The tussle between the sectional averages and the global averages show a clear discrepancy. As of March 2019, there seems to be some fudging of data. The institute claims their global average to be 20.67 LPA for 366 students.

They also mentioned the CTC for the percentage of students who went into a certain stream.

2019 Domain-Specific Placement Statistics:

If a simple sum-product of the averages with the percentage of students in a stream were to be done, the average would be 20.67 LPA, as has been mentioned earlier. That is not the case, however. If a simple-sum product is done, the LPA would stand to 19.37 LPA which is 1.3 LPA lower than the previously claimed average.

This is where the placement gets muddled up in their efforts to show big numbers and match up the high numbers with their peers. The alignment of stream averages with the global ones gets messed up. 

According to the placement report of 2020, the average CTC was around 20 LPA. Aspiring students should keep the above discussion in mind and always read the placement reports having slight expectations of botched up names and figures.
