What should I choose, mechanical engineering at MANIT Bhopal or CSE at NIT (Manipur, Mizoram, etc.)? People say it would be better if you choose CSE.

Having friends studying in both the institutes, I can say that MANIT Bhopal and NIT both are good in every criterion. When it comes to choosing between colleges and courses, the first preference should be given to the course you want to study.

• Speaking of courses in between Mechanical and CSE branches, CSE has more advantages in today’s world.
• It is the most demanded course in the field of engineering and has a lot to offer in the real and corporate world.
• CSE branch has further specializations and has more scope than any other branch in engineering.
• MANIT Bhopal and NIT are almost on the same level with NIT leading slightly due to its brand recognition, placement stats, and records.
• Both the institutes have good faculties and a revised curriculum.
• CSE branch gets to see more offers for placements and internships from various tech giants and from many MNC’s.
• NIT also has the brand name attached to it so it will prove useful in the future when you will look for a job.

In the given choices CSE has better growth and demand than Mechanical and NIT is slightly better than MANIT Bhopal. So the clear choice here will be CSE at NIT unless you wish to study mechanical then the other is fine too. Choose a college that is good which includes not just the NIT tag but also about management, faculty, students.

MANIT Bhopal is ranked 101 overall and 65 for BTech by NIRF 2020. BTech in Mechanical Engineering is offered as a 4 year full time course divided into 8 semesters.

NIT Manipur ranks 158th for BTech by NIRF 2020. It has a 300+ acres campus area. It has a faculty strength of 70 members most of them being highly qualified and PhD holders.

NIT Mizoram has a total intake of 190+ students in each department. They have a student strength of 406 students and a faculty of 47 highly qualified members.

Admission Requirements 

• Applicants should have at least 60-75% in their 10+2 qualifying exams with PCM with a valid score in JEE Main.
• For MTech, applicants must secure 60% in BTech or BE with valid GATE.
• Selection will be based on the rank obtained in the entrance exams.

MANIT Bhopal

• CSE here has a 100% placement record. Mechanical Engineering has a 60-70% placement record.
• Most PSU companies like BHEL, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Wipro, and other core companies recruit Mechanical Engineers for job roles like Mechatronics, Vibration and automobile.
• The top recruiting companies offering software based jobs include Microsoft, Wipro, Accenture, Infosys, IBM, Capgemini, TCS, FICCO, Reliance, L&T, etc.

NIT Manipur

• 20 companies visited the campus and 50 students were placed.

NIT Mizoram

• The CSE department has seen the highest number of placements.

NIT Manipur

CSE graduates can work as a System Database Administrator, Computer Programmer, Engineering Support Specialist, Data Warehouse Analyst, System Designer, Software Developer, etc. CSE has a huge demand in the rapidly growing corporate industry. Companies are always in a lookout for better qualified CSE graduates. It is considered the most in demand course in Engineering.
