My brother is an NITJ alumni and he strongly recommends joining NCC in NIT Jalandhar. Some points that support his recommendation are:

Reserved qouta in various exams like SSC-CGL
Excellent exposure
No compulsory attendance at athletic fest
Disciplined life that leads to self improvement
A touch of life of Armed Forces

Apart from NCC, NSS is also a good option. But don’t go for NSO at all. There are hardly any benefits to avail of.
