Yes, CGPA matters. Most recruiting companies participating in the NIT Trichy placement drive have a cutoff. For software companies, the required cutoff is lower and more emphasis is placed on skills and communication skills. While for core companies the required cutoff is higher. Try to have a CGPA of above 8, to be safe.

A CGPA will help you get over the initial hurdles. After you clear the online tests and interviews, the selection will depend on your performance.

Yes, the CGPA matters for placements at NIT Trichy but then again, it depends. If you have a minimum GPA of 8, things will run a little smoother for you during the placements.

  • The T&P cell does its best to give you a proper placement. Therefore, it is advisable to keep a good CGPA that is above or equal to 8.
  • The CGPA does not matter for software companies as such but it does for core companies when it comes to CSE and ECE.
  • Apart from this, in most cases, everything depends upon your communication skills and the amount of clarity you have in your thoughts.
  • Software companies generally keep a cut-off of around 7 to write the online test.
  • If you have anything above 7, it does not matter.
  • You will not be rejected because of your low CGPA. There will be some other reason as to why you did not clear the process.
  • There will be a lot of companies with a CGPA as low as 6 and some without any CGPA criteria at all.

Every student who has a decent profile will get placed with a good offer. You will have a lot of opportunities if you plan to go into software, analytics, or related industries irrespective of your CGPA.
