I got a 6,800 rank in KIIT. Will I be able to get into computer science?
You may not get Computer Science with a rank of 6,800. KIIT cutoff for CSE stays around 5000. The 2022 expected cutoff for CSE is 5054. However, your rank will be eligible for other branches such as IT, Electronics, Electronics, and Telecommunication. KIIT offers an option to shift branches after first year. If you maintain a CGPA above 8.5, you can apply for branch change.

One of my friends graduated from KIIT and here are a few things you should keep in mind. Though it is ambitious to have such high hopes, in reality, it will be impossible.
- You won't be able to get a CSE branch in KIIT University, because the CSE branch gets filled quickly during the counseling days, by a maximum rank of 3500 to 4000.
- In KIIT there is a rule for female students, in which about 30% of the total seats in each branch are reserved for them.
- So, if you are a girl then you will get CSE at KIIT.
- Also, in KIIT if you have not been able to get your favorite branch in the first year, then you can opt for a branch change from your current branch to CSE.
- But this also depends on the vacancy.
If you get IT there, you should take that opportunity. This is because the placements are the same for both branches. After the 1st semester if you get a CGPA of around 8.5 you can change branches as well.
