No, it’s not the most difficult IIM to get into. I say this because I have a few friends who are studying at the institute.

IIM Indore admission criterion focuses more on academics. It gives huge weight to the class 10 and class 12 marks and substantially less weight to the CAT score. For that reason, many students having good academics get interview calls for as low as 92 percentile. Here is how the composite score for shortlisting is done at IIM Indore.

Components  Scores
10th/SSC Score  34*[(Zcandidate - Zmin)/(Zmax-Zmin)]
12th/SSC Score 40*[(Zcandidate - Zmin)/(Zmax-Zmin)]
CAT overall score  20*[Candidate's CAT overall score/Highest CAT overall score]
Diversity Factor (DF) 6
Composite Score  = Sum of above scores (max 100)

Note: Z candidate, Z max, Z min are calculated using the normalization process.

On the other hand, the other old IIMs give substantial weight to the class 10 and class 12 marks as well as the CAT score, which makes these institutes way more difficult to get into.

Having said that, getting into IIM Indore is relatively easier as compared to other old IIMs, provided you have a good academic profile.

If your academic profile is not good, most of the old IIMs will become almost equally tough to get into.
