You’ll get most of the required items at Kabir General Store in COS. But you can still bring along these things, especially if you have spare ones at home-
- A mattress, pillow and bed sheet(s).
- A bucket, mug and soap container.
- A door lock. You’ll especially require one if you have been allotted a single room in Hostel J.
- A table fan/mini cooler.
- A mosquito repellent, eg. Good Night.
- Some hangers for your clothes.
These are the things you can bring to the Thapar University hostel as a fresher.

According to one of my friends studying at Thapar, generally, the basic items that are required to avail hostel facilities can mostly be found in the nearby departmental store in the COS Complex at Thapar University.
However, it is suggested that you still bring items as listed beneath,
- You should bring both buckets and mugs, as per your need.
- Garbage Can
- Different sanitary products, such as Soap, Shampoo, Toothbrush, and other necessary items.
- Mirror, as per your requirement.
- Room Freshener, if required.
- You should most definitely carry your laptop.
- A portable laptop table, since it will assist in reasonable ways.
- Pillow and Bed Sheets
- A lock paired with at least 3 equipped keys.
Apart from that, you should get a mattress, shoes, and other relevant items from the nearby store, if required.
