Yes, you can get a call from IIFT Kolkata. But it will depend on your rank. Your preference will play a role in your selection, only if you can secure the cutoff required for IIFT Delhi. It has a higher cutoff requirement, and top rankers are allotted seats in IIFT Delhi. So, the campus allotment depends completely on your final rank. If you have a lower rank than IIFT Delhi cut off, you will get IIFT Kolkata, irrespective of your preference.
Some of my friends graduated from IIFT. Let me share their experiences with you which might give you a clear idea.
The initial cutoff is common and there is no differentiated cutoff for Delhi and Kolkata campuses. After this, you will have to go through a common GD PI WAT process. The scores are combined and a Rank List is created. A separate cutoff is released for Delhi and Kolkata campuses.
This is when campus preference comes into play. The top rankers are allotted to the Delhi campus. If you preferred the Kolkata campus even with a high rank then you will get it but the reverse is not applicable. Allotment to the Delhi campus is based only on the final rank.
