The hostel accommodation is not up to the mark, especially the boy’s hostel. The wifi connection on campus has restrictions on many useful pages.
What is your review of Kalasalingam University?
A few of my friends graduated from Kalasalingam University. According to them, the college offers decent academics and infrastructural facilities.
- The college is accredited by UGC. Teaching is mostly examination-oriented.
- Classes and examinations are conducted on time. You will need to maintain 80% attendance to sit in the examination.
- Most faculties are friendly.
- In college premises, students need to maintain proper dressing. Wearing jeans isn’t allowed for both boys and girls. Girls are only allowed to wear churidar and shawl.
- The hostel accommodation is decent. The 1st year hostels are separate. Hostel rooms have an occupancy of 3 people. The rooms have all basic amenities. The rooms and washrooms are well-maintained and cleaned regularly. Food offered at the mess is decent.
What is it like to study in the Kalasalingam University?
One of my friends studied at Kalasalingam University. According to him the college was average but it had several improvements too, but still the institute did not change as expected. There are many things problematic with the college, these include:
- The overall infrastructure of the campus is fine, but the hostels are not well maintained.
- The rooms are not hygienic enough and there is always a scarcity of pure drinking water.
- The food offered in the mess is also not hygienic nor healthy.
- The washrooms are not cleaned regularly.
- There is also a scarcity of bathing water.
- No mobiles are allowed inside the campus. Laptops can be used only for educational purposes before the classes start or post 8 PM.
- To reach your block you have to walk for almost 2 kilometers.
- Security in the hostels are bad, often things go missing.
- Communication skills of professors are too bad, which is a very bad influence on the students.
Therefore, it is suggested that you do not consider this institution for your studies, as it offers a very bad environment which can impact a student’s intellectual growth.
Why does Kalasalingam University have a good NIRF ranking but bad student reviews?
The reviews of the students are not usually bad. But when you compare Kalasalingam University to other more established universities, it lags a bit behind in the college rankings. But the college rankings are not given by students, so their views vary.
This college really has good facilities, a huge library, green campus, etc. They also have a well experienced and highly cooperative faculty. The college might have some faults which is why the NIRF ranking is not good. But other than that it is quite a good college with sufficient amenities.
How are the Kalasalingam University hostels?
The Kalasalingam University hostel facilities are good. For boys, there are regular hostels and pg hostels. For girls, there are only regular hostels. Rooms have an occupancy of 2 to 4. There are a limited number of rooms with attached bathrooms.
Food offered in mess is average. You will get to choose between regular South Indian Food and North Indian food. Water is a major issue sometimes. There are even days when the whole campus runs out of water.
Which is better, Kalasalingam University or Ramco Institute of Technology? Why?
According to the reviews online, Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT) is said to be better than Kalasalingam University.
Here are some reasons why:
- RIT has good infrastructure and provides all the necessary facilities to the students.
- They have a well experienced faculty.
- They have proper laboratories with all the updated machinery.
- Students here have to maintain discipline, wear formals and follow the dress code. It is a very strict college.
- The placements are also better here than Kalasalingam.
