- It was a dream project of Dr. Man Mohan Singh which he had proposed in the 13th SAARC summit held in Dhaka.
- It was later in the 14th summit that the establishment of this university was decided to be held in India.
- It provides courses of Applied Math, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Development Economics, International relations, Sociology, and Legal Studies.
- Its permanent campus is under construction in Maidan Garhi, Delhi while being operated from Akbar Bhawan, Chanakyapuri.
