Questions Asked On IBS Mumbai, Mumbai

What is the order of preference among the following IBS (ICFAI) campuses: Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Gurgaon, or Kolkata?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : February 21st, 2023

If you're considering an MBA program, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Gurgaon are three of the most attractive options based on their placement prospects. Only the Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Dehradun campuses offer an MBA program, while other campuses offer PGPM. If you want a dual degree, you can pursue a PGPM from the campuses offering the program, combined with a distance learning MBA.

The cost of your education is another important factor to consider. The Mumbai and Gurgaon campuses will cost you approximately INR 9 lakhs for PGPM, while the Hyderabad campus charges approximately INR 16 lakhs for an MBA.

In terms of placement statistics, IBS Hyderabad had a 99% placement percentage in 2022 with an average package of INR 8.71 LPA. On the other hand, IBS Mumbai had an average package of INR 7.14 LPA with the highest international and domestic packages of INR 53.45 LPA and INR 15 LPA, respectively. IBS Gurgaon had an average salary of INR 6.81 LPA with the highest international salary of INR 22.18 LPA and the highest domestic salary of INR 11 LPA. The average salary for the top 10% and top 25% was INR 10.06 LPA and INR 8.76 LPA, respectively.

Before making your final decision, it is important to carefully weigh all of these factors. While Hyderabad offers excellent opportunities for development and growth, including a strong club culture, Mumbai and Gurgaon may be better options for you if you are closer to your hometown or primarily concerned about the return on investment.

I don’t really understand why you want to change campuses when the Mumbai campus is the most coveted one. I have a friend who despite being an IBS Hyderabad pass-out, considers the Mumbai campus way superior after spending months on a summer internship there.

He considers the IBS Hyderabad to be overestimated and apart from infrastructure, IBS Powai/Hiranandani is much better in all aspects. Moreover, the Mumbai campus enjoys the locational advantage of being closest to the city of dreams. The campus is in the vicinity of IIT Mumbai so you get to interact with many geniuses also.

On the other hand, IBS Shankarpally, despite having top-notch infrastructure, lacks connectivity. You are disconnected from other students and the entire world if you choose this college.

Which B school is better in placement offers as per job roles, IFIM Bangalore, IMI Bhubaneswar, or Kolkata or ICFAI IBS Hyderabad or Mumbai?

GY
Gaurav Yadav Posted On : February 24th, 2023
PGDM from IMI Kolkata (Graduated 2020)

It is important to note that when it comes to placements in tier 3 B-schools, the job profiles offered are generally similar, with a focus on sales. However, the location of the B-school can have a significant impact on the placement opportunities available to students.

In cities where there are multiple B-schools located, such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, competition between schools can be high, which affects the placements available to students. In contrast, schools located in cities without significant competition, such as IMI Kolkata and IMI Bhubaneshwar, may provide more reliable and decent placement opportunities.

Which college is better? IBS or Athena school of management for PGDM course in Mumbai?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : May 6th, 2023

I would suggest you choose Athena over IBS. While both are in Mumbai, their teaching methods are very different. IBS emphasizes batch size, quantity (1000 students for the Mumbai college), a highly easygoing college life, and a curriculum with only one internship. Because there are no international internships or exchange programs, global exposure is not prioritized.

Athena focused on Corporate Connect, Quality of Intake (only 60 to 70 students), and a very demanding and busy education with many internships. There is a lot of foreign exposure with two overseas immersions and one international internship.

When it comes to jobs and placements, Athena has an average of 7.00 lacs each year and a large number of Pre Placement Offers. This means that all of their students receive jobs, with the exception of those who opt not to go through the placement procedure. IBS earns an average of 6-7 lacs a year, yet 200-250 students do not get jobs. This is a major issue when there are so many new students each year.

If you’re only concerned about the ROI, IBS Mumbai could your best bet since it is leading the table. But I believe there is more than one way to assess a B-School so we’ll also compare the campus lives and see if it changes anything. So, IBS Mumbai and Kolkata both came into existence in the year 1995 and have a beautiful campus although it’s not as huge as the Hyderabad campus, you’ll get the corporate feel here.

All three colleges have a vibrant culture where you get to be part of some club or committee and get to explore.

Is the IBS (ICFAI business SCHOOL) Mumbai a good option for pursuing MBA and what are the placement records of IBS Mumbai not only this year but from last 4 to 5 years?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : June 28th, 2023
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

IBS Mumbai can be a good option if you don't have many other choices, but it's important to have a clear purpose for pursuing an MBA from the school.

The teaching methodology and case studies offered by the college are good, but the placement record has declined over the years due to an increase in the number of students.

The institute filters students very heavily, leading to the debarment of below-average students, and approximately 30% of the total crowd is left unplaced. Therefore, prospective students should invest wisely and choose their field of study wisely.

IBS Mumbai can be a decent option for pursuing an MBA, but it's important to consider the placement record, the teaching methodology, and the value the degree would add to your career goals before making a decision.

Is IBS a good college for an MBA in marketing? Which is the best campus: Hyderabad, Mumbai, or Pune?

JT
Jayant Thakur Posted On : February 24th, 2023
Studied at ICFAI Business School, Mumbai

Among the campuses of IBS, Hyderabad is considered the best, followed by Mumbai and Pune. It is assumed that the syllabus and course content are similar across the three campuses. Hyderabad is considered to be the best in terms of facilities and resources, while Mumbai is also a strong option, with good professors, case studies, presentations, and a well-equipped campus.

While IBS Hyderabad has a strong placement record, most of the offered positions are in sales. There are also opportunities in advertising, retailing, and other fields, but they are less prevalent. The pay packages offered by the college are decent. After gaining some experience through campus placements, you can explore job opportunities outside the college.

It is important to note that none of the IBS campuses are AICTE approved, but they are affiliated with ICFAI University in Dehradun. As an alternative, you can opt for a distance MBA program by paying an additional fee.

What are the disadvantages of getting a PGPM degree of 2 years from IBS Mumbai?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 19th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

IBS Mumbai, a top Indian business school, provides a two-year PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management). Before enrolling in the program, analyze its pros and cons. Some drawbacks:

  • Cost: IBS Mumbai's PGPM program is more expensive than others in India. Tuition, living expenses, and other expenditures may make the program unaffordable for some.
  • Competition: Admission to IBS Mumbai's PGPM program is difficult. The Institute receives many applications, and the selection process is tough, so not everyone can get in.
  • IBS Mumbai's PGPM program is general management, hence students may not be able to specialize. Consider a program that specializes in your career goal or interest.
  • Location: IBS Mumbai is in Mumbai, which might benefit or hurt students. Mumbai's traffic and pollution can make living there expensive.
  • Crowded Classrooms: The PGPM program at IBS Mumbai has huge class sizes, making it hard for students to gain individual attention from professors. Students who need extra support may find this difficult.

While IBS Mumbai's PGPM program has many benefits, including a strong faculty, industry connections, and good placement opportunities, it's important to consider the drawbacks before enrolling.
