CSE from VIT Vellore is the better option. In fact, after IIITs and BITS, it is considered best for the CS domain. The video below will give you an honest review of VIT Vellore

If you have a good command over Data Structure, Algorithm Design, and a bit of competitive coding, you can easily bag lucrative salary packages from reputed companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. According to the placement highlights of recent years, VIT Vellore CSE average CTC stays around INR 7 LPA.

How is the CSE department at Haldia Institute of Technology? What about its faculty and placement in recent times?

HR
Himani Roy Posted On : April 8th, 2021
B.Tech (IT) from Haldia Institute of Technology (2019)

Haldia Institute of Technology will be of no help to you if you dream to be the best at coding and be proud of yourself as a CSE graduate in the future.

  • When it comes to placement, it is good. But, if you consider your learning and look at the knowledge that you acquire in four years, you will not be satisfied.
  • Teaching is an art and most of the teachers lack this art at HIT. And, the rest are average. One of my friends attended HIT. During his time, the algorithm which is one of the most important topics was taught by a well-qualified professor. But, due to a lack of the art of teaching, the students lost interest in the subject.
  • Lab classes are under par. The lab assistant throws tantrums as if he is the dean of the college. Also, most of the teachers are alumni of the college. You won’t find the academic environment very encouraging.
  • No exposure. Even if it has been more than 15 years of the establishment of the college, it has failed to foresee Wipro, TCS, Infosys, CTS, and Tech Mahindra. This is quite unfair to the students who deserve more.
  • The CSE department has talented students but the teachers, who shape these minds don’t put in the required effort.

Despite all these, the students have made it to fortune 500 companies such as SAP Labs, Broadcom, Intel Security, Manhattan Associates. All the credits go to their hark-work and sheer determination.

College gives you a degree, it is you who with your hard work and determination, will make a great CSE graduate.

How is Haldia Institute of Technology for Civil Engineering?

RS
Rana Mukesh Singh Posted On : September 16th, 2021
B.Tech in civil engineering from Haldia Institute of Technology (2019)

Haldia Institute of Technology has a decent infrastructure and a highly experienced faculty to impart the best of knowledge and practical learning for civil engineering.

Regarding placement opportunities at this institute, you will need to score exceptionally good marks in GATE. Their GATE rank would determine the opportunities and placements in the corporate sector. Apart from the GATE rank, your technical knowledge, aptitude, and skills would give you an edge during campus recruitment.

According to the recent placement highlights the average and highest CTC offered was 3.5 LPA and 24 LPA.

Do not go for Software Companies once you are done with Civil Engineering as you would have to venture into alien fields of learning for acquiring related knowledge and expertise. Instead, go for companies that suit your course of study and would help you gain better experiences.

Which will be better for CSE, GCECT or Haldia Institute of Technology?

SB
Sanjana Bhandari Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
Studied at Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (2018)

HIT is a private college whereas GCECT is a government college. Following are the points of differentiation between both colleges:

  1. GCECT has comparatively very less fees which almost amount to INR 10,000 per semester and the fees for HIT approximately go up to INR 50,000 per semester.
  2. GCECT is an autonomous institute which means that the evaluation is done on the campus. However, on the other hand, Haldia Institute of Technology is affiliated with MAKAUT.
  3. For CSE, GCECT has great labs that are very poorly maintained and the faculty is also not so impressive. It has a poor infrastructure when compared to HIT.
  4. Both the colleges have almost the same average placement rates which range from 4 to 5 lakhs per annum. More service-based companies visit HI.
  5. GCECT has no on-campus placement drive and it jointly organizes placements. There is the same amount of competition. The companies still take a good amount of students from one college campus rather than multiple campuses.

You can go to Haldia Institute of Technology if fee structure is not an issue. It will offer you great exposure when compared to a government institute.

The ranks keep getting fluctuate every year and there is no surety about the exact ranks.

It is suggested to wait until the third round of counseling if you are unable to secure a seat.

However, you can absolutely get a seat in Applied Electronics with this rank. In fact, you will get it in the 1st round itself. For 2021, the opening and closing rank of this course is 9490 and 21759 respectively.

You can proceed with further admission process very easily.

Will I get into the Heritage Institute of Technology with a 20k rank in the WBJEE?

The rankings depend on the recently produced cut off by the institute, so as to process admission. By the rank you have secured, it is quite apparent that you can get an admission seat for the Biotechnology branch.

Here is a breakdown of the cut-off (opening and closing) recently produced by the institute.

Courses General - Outside Home State General - Home State
B.Tech in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering 4427 5107
9550 9695
B.Tech in Biotechnology Engineering 8873 4928
16402 16692
B.Tech in Chemical Engineering 4284 991
12972 12425
B.Tech in Civil Engineering 1294 7052
14319 14044
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering 349 523
3434 3389
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering 2078 3579
7299 7325
B.Tech in Information Technology 2900 3006
4254 4236

However, at times, it can take you until the last round to get shortlisted. In any case, it is generally difficult for a general student to acquire admission at Heritage Institute of Technology with a rank of 20,000. But, it is best that you still research more about the latest cut-off trends.

What is the chance for getting refund admission fees from Haldia Institute of Technology?

DS
Dipanshu Sharma Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, Haldia Institute of Technology (2015)

You can get your admission fee back as a refund after giving a proper application to step down from the admission process. Haldia Institute of Technology also follows this.

It’s just a matter of how much time it is going to take. You need to keep documents like the receipt for the first semester, clearance certificate, and ID proof handy with you. These documents can be submitted to the finance or the accounts office of the Institute.

This process can be done online too. Since last year Haldia Institute of Technology has been transferring back the refund for the admission fee through NEFT. The transfer mostly happens on the same day when the refund application is submitted.

It must be noted that the college will deduct an amount of 2000 Rupees as admission processing fees.

How good is the Mechanical Dept. at Haldia Institute of Technology?

AK
Aman Kumar Posted On : September 21st, 2021
Studied at Haldia Institute of Technology (2014)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology has established a nice reputation for itself over the past few years.

  • The professors and other members of the faculty for the mechanical engineering department are experienced.
  • The department also has good facilities for the laboratories.
  • The teaching methodologies are considered to be above average by a majority of students enrolled in mechanical engineering courses.
  • The only shortcoming of Mechanical Engineering at Haldia is on-campus placement drives. Very few core companies visit the campus to recruit students almost every year.
  • In case you want to be recruited by a reputed core company after graduation then you must maintain a good academic record from the first semester itself.

Following table is a brief description of the course:

Categories Mechanical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology
Course Fee 3.95 lakh
Highest CTC 6 LPA
Average CTC 3.2 LPA
Recruiting Companies Cognizant, Haldia Petrochemicals, Bengal Energy Limited, Bengal Tools, etc.

Some rules for the recruitment drives have been established according to which only the top students based on their CGPA score would be eligible to appear for the selection rounds of core companies. These rules to shortlist the top candidates are usually set up by the corporations visiting the campus for recruitment of students. The options for off-campus recruitment would always be available for you. You can always prepare and apply for job roles via off-campus recruitment of core companies.

How good is Haldia Institute Of Technology?

VP
Vaani Pathak Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Studied at Haldia Institute of Technology

Haldia Institute of Technology had a glorious past, marked with excellent placement and achievements of students in various fields. But, at present, it is not in a good state. Considering most reviews, it is not an institute recommended for students.

The points below give a brief overview of the institute:

  • There are reviews about Haldia Institute of Technology stating its huge campus and great campus life. But, when placement is concerned, students are mostly unsuccessful in getting their dream jobs.
  • Considering the past success rate of students, most of them received no support from the college in their hard work. There was no contribution of the institute in its placement, and the alumni would have achieved their goals elsewhere too.
  • The training and placement cell is not at all dedicated to their work of pitching various companies to conduct recruitment drives in the institute.
  • The labs are in a bad condition and had a lack of necessary equipment in them. The institute focuses on beautifying the campus with plants and decorations, rather than investing in building proper machinery for technical works.
  • The brightest students of branches like CSE and IT are placed in mass recruiting companies like TCS and Wipro, which clears the fact that placements are lacking.

The points above may be disappointing for new aspirants, but this is the truth. There are several much better institutes which candidates should opt for. You should go to colleges in big cities, which usually have better exposure, surrounded by corporations.

You can use their free time a lot better in those institutes, developing their skill set. Even though the core branches in HIT can be somewhat considered, CSE and IT are not at all recommended.
