Studied PGP at XIMB

XIMB is a highly reputed management institute in India, offering a variety of courses including the Rural Management (RM) program. If you are interested in pursuing a career in rural development, the RM program at XIMB could be a great choice for you. The RM program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to work in the field of rural development and prepares students for a range of roles in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

On the other hand, if you are considering joining Infosys or Cognizant, you would be entering the IT industry. While these companies are highly respected in the IT sector, it's important to consider whether a career in IT is the right fit for you.

When making a decision between the XIMB RM course and a job at Infosys or Cognizant, you may want to consider the following:

  • Your interests and career goals: It's important to consider your own interests and goals when making a decision about your career. If you are passionate about rural development and want to work in this field, the RM course at XIMB could be an excellent choice. On the other hand, if you are interested in IT and want to pursue a career in this field, a job at Infosys or Cognizant may be a better option.
  • Long-term prospects: Consider the long-term prospects of each option. The RM program at XIMB could open doors to a wide range of career opportunities in rural development, both in India and abroad. Similarly, a job at Infosys or Cognizant could provide you with opportunities for growth and advancement in the IT industry.
  • Financial considerations: It's also important to consider the financial implications of each option. The RM program at XIMB will require an investment of time and money, whereas a job at Infosys or Cognizant will provide you with a steady income.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to join the XIMB RM course or a job at Infosys or Cognizant depends on your individual interests, goals, and financial situation. It's important to weigh the pros and cons of each option and consider what will best help you achieve your long-term career aspirations.

XIMB (2019)

After choosing either of the two options, there can be two possible scenarios.

  1. In the first scenario, after completing your Btech, you choose to join Infosys or Cognizant, at about 3.6 Lakhs (CTC from most freshers). After working for two years, your package will be almost 4.2-4.5 lakhs. In simple terms, you will get an in-hand salary of 30-35k.
  2. In the second scenario, if you decide to go for XIMB Rural Management known as XSRM, assuming that you are going to get placed at an average package of 7–8 LPA. Or in the best-case scenario, you can grab up to 10+ LPA packages.

However, don’t forget that you will be investing 15 lakhs for the course. So, if you have applied for a scholar loan, then you’ll be paying 10–15k for loan repayment per month. You may also get tax benefits for availing of a study loan. After the loan repayment deduction, you’ll be earning in the range of 35–40k. But that's temporary, in the long term you’ll have a management role, good career growth, Xavier brand and you can also go for an operations management role eventually.

Overall, it's totally up to you whether you want to take up a job now or join further studies for a broader scope. If getting into the industry first and gaining experience is your priority, join Infosys/Cognizant. On the other hand, if you can wait and invest more time in studies for better opportunities tomorrow, choose the Rural Management course at XIMB.
