Here are some tips for you if you are about to start your first year at NIT Jalandhar.

  • You may hear your seniors say that CGPA does not matter that much. Which is not true. You need to keep a good CGPA if you want to be placed in a reputed company. Also, some companies only allow the students of the branch to sit for placements or internships. It does not take 24 hours of every 365 days to study for scoring an 8+ CGPA. You can easily achieve this CGPA by studying a few hours a week. Also, CGPA is accepted both in CAT ranking and GRE.
  • Keep a good recognition and avoid conflicts with the professors. Every department consists of friendly and helpful professors.
  • In terms of attendance, you need to have at least 75%.
  • Participate in co-curricular activities. There are plenty of societies in the college so you can easily take part in any of the society's induction to take part in.
  • If you are not sure about what you want to do in the future, explore your field of interest in the first and second year, be it coding, Core subjects, Business Analytics, and anything you have an interest in. Try to spend the 3rd year on the subject or field that you are interested in.
  • Joining sports helps in relieving frustration and maintaining good health. So, try to take part in any of the sports facilities available at the campus.
  • Fests like Utkansh and Techniti occur in the college which you should not miss.
  • Try to stay updated with general knowledge, current affairs, etc.

Wish you all the very best for your new life journey.
