  2. Institute Free Studentship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have secured a minimum CGPA of 6.0 in the previous semester and whose annual family income is less than INR 1.0 lakh. The scholarship covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend of INR 250.
  3. SC/ST Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories. The scholarship covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend of INR 250.
  4. Minority Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students belonging to minority communities (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis). The scholarship covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend of INR 2,000.
  5. Inspire Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have secured a rank within the top 1% of their respective board in the Class XII exam and have taken admission in any of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), or Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs). When it comes to scholarships, there are various options open for students to consider at IIIT Allahabad. You will find that some of them are provided by the state governments themselves. The scholarships can also be classified into merit-based, merit-cum-need based as well as caste-based scholarships. The number of students that are awarded these scholarships may range from 2 to 6 depending on the criteria.

Here are some of the popular scholarships you can apply to. 

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities:

This is mainly a need-based scholarship

  • You need to score more than 50% marks or equivalent grade in your previous final exam
  • Your annual income should not exceed INR 2 lakhs.
  • If you qualify, your tuition fees will reduce to INR 3000 per annum with a maintenance allowance for 10 months: INR 380 per month for hosteller and INR 230 per month for day scholar.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students:

  • If you have above 80th percentile in the relevant stream for a specific board of examination, you are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Your parent’s/guardian's income should be less than INR 4.5 lakhs per annum.
  • Cost: INR 1000 per month for graduate level, first three years. INR 2000 per month for post-graduation level and INR 2000 per month for 4th and 5th-year professional course students.
  • The scholarship is paid for 10 months in an academic year.

Metric and means scholarship for professional and technical courses:

  • This is mainly awarded to students pursuing technical and professional courses and on the basis of a competitive exam that will make you eligible for the scholarship.
  • The annual income should not exceed INR 2.50 lakhs from all sources.
  • Your course fees of INR 20,000 per annum or whichever is less and maintenance allowance INR 1000 per month for hosteller and INR 500 per month for day scholar will be covered for 10 months.

There are a number of other scholarships available as well. These are the institutional scholarships, merit incentive scholarships as well as umbrella scheme scholarships for students from the reserved category. You will have to do your research to see which scholarship meets your needs.
