Which one is better, IIEST Shibpur or DTU?

IIEST Shibpur is the 2nd oldest engineering college in India. The institute has been ranked 19th by NIRF among engineering colleges and offers 75-80% placements every year. The institute currently consists of 4000 students with over 250 faculty members. 

DTU, on the other hand, is ranked 2nd and 34th among the best technological institutes in India as per Times Engineering Survey and NIRF. The institute is a prime destination for jobs as it maintains 95% placements every year.

Admission Process

• IIEST Shibpur: The students applying for UG must have a minimum of 75% marks in 10+2 along with JEE Main score. 

• DTU: The minimum marks for admission in BTech is 60% in 10+2 with a valid score in JEE Main followed by Joint Admission Counselling.

• IIEST Shibpur: IIEST has maintained an excellent placement record, and during its 2020 placement drive, the institute managed to bag a total of 511 job offers. 
• DTU: It recorded with 323 companies visiting the campus for recruitment and making a total of 1434 job offers to the graduating students,

The top recruiters are Accenture, Cognizant, Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, Honeywell, Amazon, Qualcomm, etc. 

Research Opportunities

IIEST Shibpur has been ranked 7th in Research Parameter after 6 leading old IITs. It has collaborated with University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and University of Wisconsin Madison. IIEST Shibpur will definitely be a better choice than DTU in terms of research opportunities and international tie-ups.

Both these colleges are reputed in their respective standards. They provide excellent placements for CSE, IT, Mechanical with lots of opportunities. However, DTU is preferred over IIEST Shibpur as it is one of the best colleges in India.
