How is IIT Guwahati Biotechnology Department?

As a student of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology at IIT Guwahati, I have a quality education and a dynamic research environment here. Established in November 2002, the department has quickly grown to become a leader in the field of biotechnology and biosciences in North East India. There are 36 faculty members with a variety of specialities, students receive a rich and multifaceted learning experience. 

The department infrastructure and research facilities are impressive and are constantly being upgraded to meet both teaching and research needs. Key research areas include biochemical engineering, enzyme and microbial technology, tissue engineering, plant biotechnology, nanobiotechnology, computational biology, cancer biology, infectious diseases and proteomics.

The department also focuses on meeting the needs of the biotechnology industry by preparing students to work in the industry after graduation. This hands-on approach to teaching and research is well-suited to current and future industry needs.
