NIT Jalandhar is an autonomous university approved by AICTE and UGC. It is ranked 52nd for BTech by NIRF 2020, 33rd for BTech by India Today 2020 and 31st for BTech by The Week 2020.

PEC Chandigarh is one the pioneer engineering colleges in Punjab. It is ranked 68th for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is deemed to be a university approved by AICTE.

Admission Details - 

  • Students should at least have 70-75% in their 10+2 qualifying exam.
  • The admission will be based on the entrance exams.
  • NIT Jalandhar will conduct a JoSAA counselling session for BTech students and CCMT counselling for MTech students.
  • JEE and GATE scores are mandatory for the admission of BTech and MTech students.

NIT Jalandhar 

  • 561 students are placed in the 2018-2019 placement program.
    • The institute recorded a total of 94.87% placement rate.
    • The highest salary offered to students was 39.12 LPA while the average salary was 7.53 LPA.
  • The toprecruiting companies include Adobe, Microsoft, Capgemini, Vedanta, ZS Associates, Trident Group, etc.

PEC Chandigarh

  • The toprecruiting companies include Microsoft, ITC, Infosys, TATA, JP Morgan, Mu Sigma, Arcesium, etc.
  • A total of 60% placement rate was recorded in the recent placement drive.
  • The students were offered the highest salary package of 17 LPA whereas the average salary was 5 LPA.

Facilities

NIT Jalandhar 

  • The institute has 10 boys hostel and 3 girls hostel.
  • They have a post office, shopping centre, banks, seminar hall, gym, computer centre and a library.

PEC University 

  • With 146 acres, the institute provides facilities like Medical Facility and Graduate Research Project Award. 
  • They have 6 hostels, 4 for boys and 2 for girls.
  • They have a library consisting of 1,19,830 books.
  • The university also has clubs for social gathering and recreational activities.

Both the colleges are equally good but if you get an opportunity to study ECE at NIT Jalandhar you should give that a chance due to its better placement record with better salary packages. ECE deals with manufacturing of communication and broadcasting, analogue transmission, basic electronics, microprocessors, digital communication, integrated circuits, satellite communication and many more.

Both NIT Jalandhar and PEC Chandigarh provide a full-time 4-year course in ECE. NIT Jalandhar has been ranked at 52 by the NIRF rankings, while the PEC Chandigarh has been ranked at 68 by the NIRF. The PEC Chandigarh is a Deemed University whereas, NIT Jalandhar is a Government Institute.

Admission:-

NIT Jalandhar offers a B.Tech and PEC Chandigarh offers a BE course in ECE.

  • Both the Colleges consider the marks of JEE Mains and the 12th marks by creating the merit list.

  • The minimum requirement is 60% in class 12th in PEC Chandigarh, 75% in NIT Jalandhar.

  • As both the colleges come under the government funding both of these have similar fee structures and there is no such big difference between them. NIT Jalandhar charges 5.0 Lakhs and PEC Chandigarh charges 4.6 Lakhs for the course.

Placement:-

Both of these colleges have excellent placement records, but there are quite a few companies visiting the NIT Jalandhar, while PEC is better in terms of placement for the ECE department specifically due to the core companies visiting the campus every year.

NIT Jalandhar:

  • According to the 2020 placement statistics, the total Placement rate is 89%.

  • Highest CTC offered to the students of ECE is 19.0 LPA.

  • The average CTC was recorded around 6.0 LPA.

  • Almost 129 Companies visited the campus which included Deloitte, Adani Group, Kirloskar Oil Engines, Accenture, and Adobe Systems India Pvt Ltd.

PEC Chandigarh:

  • As far as the 2020 placements are concerned the total placement rate was 83%.

  • The highest and average CTC received by the students were 17 LPA nad 5 LPA.

  • There were almost 56 participants in the campus placement with top recruiting companies like Deloitte, Amazon, JP Morgan, LinkedIn, Flipkart, Tech Mahindra, Mercedes Benz, Cleartrip, Intel, etc.

Both of the colleges mentioned are renowned colleges of the country and are reputed for their academics as well as placements. Both of these colleges have experienced faculties for the ECE department, but the tag of NIT would give your career a great start, other than that there is not much difference between both of these colleges.
