- Prepare yourself: Unless prohibited, always carry a notepad and a pen. It indicates that you are prepared for the discussion.
- Make notes: Use a notepad to jot down the points. Always start with the topic, roughly so that at least you can read it for the next 10 mins of GD. Take notes in the time allotted for preparation. Also, take notes on important points that come up during the discussion. This will assist you in completing the GD.
- Allow others to speak: If you have already spoken, do not interrupt others excessively. Allowing others to speak demonstrates that you are interested in a healthy debate and are a good listener.
- Don't use derogatory expressions: In GD, never raise your voice to express your rage. Always treat GD as if it were a discussion. If necessary, disagree politely. These are the qualities of an effective leader and team player.
