It depends upon the state you belong to. I have a few friends from both NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad and based on the reviews I got from them, l recommended that you go for NIT Allahabad. Here are some reasons why.

Allahabad is in close proximity to Delhi, as opposed to Calicut. The faculty of Delhi’s top universities visit the Allahabad campus often and rather, conveniently.
The course structure at both NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad are similar. This gives you the freedom to choose the Allahabad campus and not move extremely far down the south. However, in case you belong to Kerala, you can opt for NIT Calicut.

Having said that, you are required to concentrate on what your goals are; and consider your aims following M.Tech. Choosing an institute based on that will be better.
