Is it worth it to go into 6 new IIMs (Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur, Udaipur, Trichy & Kashipur) rather than going for an MS?
If you are interested in MS, it is advised that you pursue an MS rather than an MBA at this time. This is due to the fact that you may have the opportunity to pursue an MBA later on, but you may have limited opportunities to pursue an MS later on. Furthermore, an MS may expose you to new and interesting aspects of your field, which may lead to additional academic or professional opportunities.
In terms of new IIMs, it is worth noting that, while institutions in other parts of the world must prove their worth over time, these new IIMs (Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur, Udaipur, Trichy & Kashipur) may be seen as inheriting the prestige of their predecessors. It should be noted, however, that they inherit little else from the established IIMs. This is not surprising in a country where decisions are frequently based on caste, surname, and family history rather than character. It is recommended that you thoroughly research an institution before enrolling, rather than basing your decision solely on the highest package offered or the name of the institution.

This is the most confusing question that arises in the mind of CAT aspirants once they start getting admission calls after clearing the WAT-PI stage.
The presence of a permanent campus is always advantageous which the recently formed IIMs lack but on the bright side.
The so-called 6 new IIMs are not new anymore and they have carved out a niche in a short time. This doesn’t mean that older IIMs are not good as they are carrying decade long legacy.
- An IIM tag more than 5 years old helps you land in good companies almost comparable to the old IIMs. The culture helps you to survive in companies once you leave the campus.
- Placements of summer internships are the problem of the current economic condition of the country. Despite everything, the IIMs have placed all their students for the summer internship. All 6 IIMs have similar average packages for summer placements.
- The best thing that an IIM can give you is the culture in those 2 years of a residential program.
- Being at an IIM is helpful because of the brand and the knowledge you gain.
- The new IIMs provide live project opportunities that provide real job experiences at companies while studying PGDM. Some are paid projects while others aren’t.
- All the IIMs have the rigor of their own which are more or less the same as any old IIM.
IIM Kashipur is a good option among recently established IIMs.
