What is the difference between IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Shillong?

IIM Ahmedabad in 2008 was the first management school in India to be awarded with EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development). It is the pioneer of Management schools in India.

IIM Shillong is following IIM Ahmedabad’s footsteps. It is presently operating from a temporary campus in Mayurbhanj complex. The building is in progress in the permanent campus area.

Top companies visit during the placement program, like Microsoft, Google, Estee Lauder, Accenture, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Nestle, Hindustan Unilever Limited, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, P&G, Morgan Stanley, Edelweiss, McKinsey and Company and many more.

Faculty -

• The faculty is much more experienced in IIM Ahmedabad than in IIM Shillong.
• Lecturers and Professors from IIM A visit IIM Shillong as guest lecturers.
• IIM A faculty members are regular participants in International conferences.
• They contribute to International Journals, collaborate with agencies to advance and implement projects.
• They are involved in academics, governance, research and consultancy.
• IIM Ahmedabad being a well known and reputed institute is preferred by students, teachers and professionals.

The location is also a factor, because many students have complained about the location of IIM Shillong being unfavourable because of its network disturbances and internet availability.

IIM Shillong though being a new establishment has the want to be better as the reputed and older IIMs.
