How can I choose between IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur?

Choosing between IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras can be a daunting task, but there are a few things to keep in mind while making this decision.

If you are from the North and want to be near home, then choose IIT Kanpur. For a South Indian, IIT Madras might be a better option.
If you want to explore different parts of the country and experience diverse cultures, then you should consider the IIT in the other region. For example, a north Indian should choose IIT Madras and a south Indian should opt for IIT Kanpur.
Don't get caught up in the rankings or the location. Both institutes are highly prestigious and offer excellent education and opportunities.
In the past, IIT Kanpur used to close early, but that should not be a decisive factor.

You must keep in mind that both institutes are highly respected and highly regarded that offer excellent academic programs, faculty, and research opportunities.

I presume that this question asks about how IIT Kanpur is superior to other IITs and therefore makes it difficult for someone to answer it because it demands an answer with a comparison to other IITs and not everyone can give a clearer picture. But, here I will try to give an answer, based on what I heard from my friends at different IITs. Here are the reasons why IIT Kanpur stands out:

Campus: IIT Kanpur a lush green campus with a never-ending harmony with nature. Do not be surprised if you find beautiful peacocks roaming around in the hallways.
Alumni: IIT Kanpur has produced excellent individuals to the world who have made a significant contribution to society.
Academics: I agree that IIT Kanpur is infamous for academic pressure but, among all the IITs, it is the most student-friendly and liberal. Even though there are rumors that there will be compulsory minimum required attendance, there is no such requirement as of now. There is 24 hours internet facility and no ban on LAN.
Campus Life: The campus is full of life and energy. You will always find different kinds of activities going on on the campus ranging from dance and art to science and technology.
Bonding among the students: Juniors call their seniors by name because at IIT Kanpur, it is a culture that is done with the belief that it helps in building better connections and freeness.
AirStrip: It is approximately 1000m long and is capable of handling single-engine aircraft (Piper, Saratoga, Cessna) and gliders.
City Life: Even though Kanpur does not provide you the chance of enjoying life as in a metropolitan city, life in the city is beautiful in its own way.
