How are IITs Indore, Hyderabad, Varanasi, and Roorkee as compared to NIT, Surathkal?
NIT Surathkal is on the top when compared to other NITs. NIT Kurukshetra, moreover, is better than most new NITs of India. The reasons for it are as follows.
- It is located near cities such as Mangalore, Udipa, and more.
- It is also one of the best places to live since it is counted as a tourist spot.
- Among various others, it is the only institute that at present owns a private beach.

Which college is better: NIT Surat chemical or NIT Surathkal metallurgy?
Considering the opportunities which may get available for you in the future, I would suggest you go for Chemical Engineering at NIT Surat as it would be a better option over metallurgy. As my sister studied there, I am very well aware of the college and its pros and cons.

Should I opt for MNIT Jaipur for CSE or NIT Surathkal for IT? Jaipur is close to my hometown.
MNIT Jaipur is pretty decent when it comes to these two colleges. Apart from the location advantage, here are some major reasons why you should choose it.
- Placements: MNIT Jaipur being a good engineering college will get you better placements for CSE any day. 2020 placement drive recorded the highest salary of 38 LPA while the average CTS was 8.03 LPA.
- Coding Culture: My friend is studying at MNIT Jaipur and honestly, You will be a little bit disappointed at first in terms of coding culture. However, there are ample online resources to learn some.
- Location: As you are mentioning that Jaipur is close to your hometown, then it’s a cherry on top. The location is indeed an advantage here and will get you various perks.
- Infrastructure: MNIT Jaipur definitely has better infrastructure and facilities as compared to NIT Surathkal.
All in all, MNIT Jaipur has an edge over NIT Surathkal. CSE from MNIT is one of the best CSE programs among NITs.
I've got CSE in NSIT, DTU, IIIT-D and NIT Surathkal, which one should I go for?
You should choose CSE in NIT Surtahkal. In terms of coding culture, research environment, academics, placements, and reputation, it is better.
- NIT Surtahkal is an Institute of National Importance and gets funding from Central Govt.
- NIT Surathkal has a great research interface. It is the only NIT to receive HEFA funding to set up a Central Research Facility. ISRO has a regional academic center for space on NIT K campus.
- A total of 23 students from the institute were accepted for GSoC 2020. NITK was ranked 4th globally, in the list of schools with the maximum number of accepted students in GSoC.
- According to the placement highlights, NITK CSE average package is INR 15-16 LPA.
NIT Surtahkal offers a better return on investment, compared to NSIT, DTU, and IIIT D. Since it changes only INR 5.48 lakhs for the degree.
Which college should I choose among NIT Nagpur and NIT Surathkal?
One of my friends is an alumnus of NIT Surathkal and was in awe of it since the beginning of his academic program.
- That institute is better than most in terms of campus life, placement, rank, and other essential parameters.
- It has a 90% placement rate in 2020 and ranks #13 on the NIRF ranking portal.
- Despite its excellence, my friend used to say that if you have a choice available, don’t go for NIT.
- Over the years it will come to your notice that the whole system is a scam, and although it has excellent facilities and good basics it's really overhyped.
- You'll find that any other good engineering college will have equal or better opportunities for you.
- If you can, try taking admission to a university that supports your dreams, which is the right fit for you - do not opt by just checking the placement rates. As it is untrue.
Another friend of mine was in the third year of chemical engineering in NIT Nagpur and felt as if he did not gain any technical knowledge after studying for three years. This is something overlooked by most 'excellent' universities across India and they do not allow students to question it. Therefore, if you have a better option available- go for that, not any NIT.
Which is easier, EEE or ECE at NIT Surathkal?
I have a few friends at NIT Surathkal and based on the conversation I had with them, I will say at NIT Surathkal, ECE is considered to be the toughest branch.
- The academics and research are taken very seriously in the department.
- The professors are demanding and highly qualified than other departments.
- In this department everyone, from HOD to lab assistants, everyone is serious about studies and making a point about academic rigor.
- The exams are also very tough and students even fail in lab examinations too.
But the scenario at the EEE department of NIT Surathkal is slightly different and its biggest advantage is that it has a relaxed attendance policy, unlike other branches.

Which is better in terms of placements for an MTech in computer science, IIT Roorkee or NIT Surathkal?
Both IIT Roorkee and NIT Surathkal are highly reputed institutes, and both have good placement records for their MTech in computer science programs. However, based on the available data, IIT Roorkee has a slight edge over NIT Surathkal in terms of average placement packages.
In the most recent placement season, IIT Roorkee had an average placement package of around Rs. 16 LPA for its MTech in the computer science program, with companies like Amazon, Goldman Sachs, and Microsoft visiting the campus for recruitment. On the other hand, NIT Surathkal had an average placement package of around Rs. 13 LPA, with companies like Microsoft, Intel, and Deloitte visiting the campus for recruitment.
Both IIT Roorkee and NIT Surathkal are excellent choices for an MTech in computer science, and students can expect good placement opportunities from both institutes. However, based on the available data, IIT Roorkee seems to have a slightly better placement record for this program.
Should I choose ECE at IIITH or go for CSE at NIT Surathkal?
My sister studied CSE from NIT Surathkal which is an excellently ranked Institute. It has excellent opportunities available for anyone in the CSE department. It is the best option in terms of placements because core ECE jobs do not pay well. The number of jobs available to CSE graduates is way more than those to ECE.
If you notice the trend, you will see that a huge number of new companies have surfaced in the last decade, a few of them who recruit CSE students are Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, and Paytm.
You won't find a single MNC for ECE students and if any does, it's the core companies whose number is less than 15 here in India. These days ECE companies are not investing in B.Tech students, they are more interested in Masters candidates.
Some startups have come up in core engineering but there's a high chance that it will merge with other prosperous companies. They don't even provide good pay.
If you look at the reputation and academic excellence of both the Institutes, then you will realize that they are good. It's always advisable to choose CSE because data is king, currently.
Which NITs have a lift in academic and hostel building among NIT Surathkal, NIT Hamirpur, and NIT Nagpur?
My cousin recently enrolled in NIT Hamirpur and definitely loves the state-of-the-art facilities. It provides and its modern infrastructure. It has excellent facilities in its 320 acres area which includes a computer centre, a library with over 100,000 books, an auditorium, a guest house, sports grounds, solar heaters, hostels, gym, and of course- lifts.
NIT Hamirpur has a lift facility in the departments which offer UG programs. Some more lifts have been added in some of the newly built hostels which are for students in the second year and beyond, much Iike NIT Nagpur has a lift in the new academic block and the new hostel.
Another point here, the New Hostels are for girls and boys in the first year, only.
