What are average salary packages offered to mathematics and computing engineering at DTU?

MB
Mriganko Basu Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech. from Delhi Technological University (2015)

The basic details to look upon in relation to mathematics & computing engineering are as follows:

AVERAGE PACKAGE RS.3-4 LAKHS
HIGHEST PACKAGE RS. 39 LAKHS
OFFERS MADE 93
STUDENTS PLACED 70

The point that is to be considered is whether MCE is the branch you opted for voluntarily or not.

As the branch is more mathematics oriented people try to avoid choosing it. It’s a great choice if the individual has a liking for maths centric courses. DTU offers a good scope that will allow you to take a leap forward in this domain starting from internships to good placements.

Why should I take IIITD over NSIT and DTU?

VG
Vishal Gupta Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

Comparison of IIIT Delhi over DTU and NSIT should be based on some criteria:

  • Placement:

According to IIITD, in 2019 B.Tech CSE placed 98.96% of students and B.Tech ECE placed 94.59% of students. The average salary of the last batch is Rs. 15 lakhs. In the case of NSIT, they record around 90% of placement every year. The average salary of the last B.Tech batch is around 8 lakhs per year. DTU also gives around 11.17 lakhs per annum with 70-80% student’s placement per year.

  • Infrastructure:

Established in 2008, IIITD has a cutting edge infrastructure with high tech equipment. In NSIT, you might still find 2nd gen. computers.  The institute has no A.C facility in labs, classrooms. And in DTU, the operative condition of instruments is also weak, even not fully connected to Wi-Fi.

  • Facilities:

In the case of academic blocks and hostel facilities, IIITD has an auditorium and a total of 25 lecture halls of varying sizes. At present, there is one hostel for boys and one for girls. NSIT has 2 girl’s hostels and 2 boy’s hostels. Hostel life is wonderful in DTU. Hostel infrastructure is good along with badminton and TT court inside. There are 5 hostels for boys and 3 for girls.

  • Library:

In IIITD, the Library has a large collection of print and electronic media. With this, the institute has fully connected through the internet connection. The condition of the library of NSIT and DTU is also good, but the condition of books and print media is less compared to IIITD.

  • Fee structure:

IIITD is nearly Rs. 3,60,000 per year for B.Tech in 2019 -20, for M.Tech (CSE/ECE) 2019 it is nearly Rs.1,85,000 which is high as compare to NSIT where for B.Tech nearly  Rs. 1,66,000 per year (2019-20), and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,86,000. Whereas DTU charges Rs. 1,95,000 for B.Tech and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,66,000.

The IIITD got rank through NIRF 55th   in India. Whereas the NSIT ranked 11 among Engineering colleges by Outlook and 22 by the week in 2019. The DTU has got rank 36 for engineering by NIRF 2020.

Does DTU provide Lateral  Entry?

AR
Anurag Rao Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech. in Environmental Engineering & Civil Services of India, Delhi Technological University (Graduated 2020)

Yes, DTU provides lateral entry. DTU LEET (Delhi Technological University Lateral Entry Engineering Test) is conducted by the college through which students can get direct admission in the third semester of BTech programs. DTU provides 14 courses for BTech admission. Only those candidates who have completed a Diploma in Engineering can apply for it.

Admission is given on the basis of a 2-hour written exam conducted by the college and a merit list is prepared on the basis of the examination scores. The advantage that the late entrants have over others is that they don’t have to qualify through appearing in JEE Main or any other competitive exam.

The courses available under the program are Polymer Science and Chemical Technology, Mathematics and Computing, Engineering Physics, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, and many more.

The syllabus for DTU LEET is released by the college every year on their website. One of the things to be concerned about here is that it’s not guaranteed that you would be able to get the same branch which you had in your diploma as it depends on the number of seats available for a specific course. So, there are students who get admission through lateral entry but end up opting for a branch totally different from what they studied in their diploma, so it’s for you to decide whether you want to choose this option or not.

Which one to choose, lower NIT or College of engineering, Pune or DTU ?

NS
Natasha Sonawane Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (2016)

DTU is a tier 1 engineering college and has a distinct legacy of its own. It is one of the oldest engineering institutes in India and according to the 2020 NIRF Ranking, it ranks 34th among the top technological institutes in India. The placement scenario at DTU is quite impressive and students receive an average package of 6.5 LPA on placement drive.

Although COEP is also a reputed college, most of the students are local and Marathi speaking. So if you are comfortable in Marathi and can strike a balance between Marathi and English, then you might consider COEP. The biggest advantage of COEP is it is located in the automation hub Pune which helps in the placement, especially for the mechanical branch.

Although the ‘NIT’ tag offers certain advantages, except for IT and ME branches the placement scenario in lower NIT’s is not up to the mark. Besides, these lower-ranked colleges also offer fewer opportunities for startups and entrepreneurship. DTU on the other hand has an excellent coding culture and conducts a vast number of fests for coders. However, a major difference between DTU and lower NITs is that the fee in the latter is much less as compared to the institute fees in the former. All NITs have a common fee structure as they all come under the reserved list of “Centrally Sponsored Institutes”. Furthermore, NITs also offer many scholarships for students.

However, considering all the aspects and the associated pros and cons, DTU should be the first choice.

Production and Industrial Engineering is a specialization branch of Mechanical Engineering. Most of the subjects are similar in both branches. DTU is a good college in India. Students securing decent JEE Mains rank are able to get admission in it. This branch has good prospects for the future in DTU.

Most people are concerned about future prospects in the branch they choose. For production and industrial engineering at DTU, these prospects are good. Many companies that recruit mechanical engineers are also open to this branch. In today's world, most of the jobs are in the IT sector. These companies want people with certain skills. They do not care about the branch of their employees. DTU has a good coding culture. Most of the students practice computer programming. There are clubs and some groups of students who help their friends and juniors to learn skills. These skills help them to make a good resume to impress the recruiters. The location of DTU is also a boon for the civil services aspirants. Delhi is known to have top coaching centers for civil service preparations. So the people aiming to crack UPSC can also opt for this college. Thus, if you see all advantages of opting for this branch in DTU, then it is quite a good option.
