Among these, GNE Ludhiana is better. It is an old college with good industry reach. The core branches of the university are pretty good. GNE curriculum is updated according to the current industry trends. It has a good placement record, especially for branches such as CSE and IT. GNE Ludhiana placement highlights of recent years show the highest CTC to be INR 10 LPA.

Is the CGC Landran a good college to do a B.Tech in CSE?

AR
Arun Raina Posted On : February 16th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Chandigarh Engineering College (2017)

CGC Landran is an average college for CSE but it is better than any other colleges in the North. The good thing about CSE is that you don’t need a reputed college to learn about CSE. You can learn the required skills with a laptop. If you have the required skill set, you also do not have to worry about placements.

The table below has a brief overview of the CSE program at CGC Landran.

Average CTC

4-4.5 LPA

Course Fee

3.62 lakhs

Discussed below are a few of the factors that you should know about CGC Landran.

Placements: CGC Landran has a pretty decent placement record and it is improving every year. Top companies like Google and Microsoft visit the campus for recruitments. After pursuing B.Tech in CSE, you will have a definite chance to get placed in one of the IT companies.

TPP Classes: The newly launched training and placement programs help the students to become industry-ready. Though you will be charged an extra amount of Rs. 4500 but these skills like programming, aptitude, and soft skills will help you in final placements.

Fee: In comparison to other colleges, the fee of CGC Landran is much less. Thus, it really doesn’t hurt your pocket much to study in this college.

Attendance:

  • The 75% attendance criteria is criticized among the students a lot but if you really want to learn and grow, you must attend the class. The college follows 75% attendance criteria mandatory.
  • The attendance is calculated every fortnight. And if you have less than 75% attendance in the first fortnight then you can maintain an equivalent balance in the next fortnight.

Practicals:

  • CGC only prepares students for the PTU examination. In the class, only the PTU syllabus is covered. Teachers do not have good knowledge of projects.
  • If you want to learn about projects, you have to join various project clubs on campus.

So, overall the college helps its students a lot. Every college has some advantages and disadvantages and so does this college. But at the same time, you will get the best out of this college if you study hard.

What should I choose for a B.Tech, CGC Landran, Thapar, or Amity?

MA
Madhav Aneja Posted On : April 14th, 2023
Lived in Chandigarh, India

If you are looking for a college that provides engineering education at an affordable price with all the necessary infrastructure, CGC Landran can be a suitable option for you.

On the other hand, if you have a higher budget and can afford to pay the fees of more expensive colleges, Thapar and Amity can be good choices. In particular, Thapar is highly regarded for its engineering program and is consistently ranked among the top engineering colleges in India.

Here are some factors to consider when deciding which college to choose:

  • Budget: If you have a limited budget, it may be wise to consider colleges that offer quality education at a more affordable price, such as CGC Landran. However, if you can afford higher fees, Thapar and Amity may be worth considering.
  • Infrastructure: When it comes to engineering education, infrastructure plays a crucial role. Make sure to check if the college has the necessary equipment and facilities, such as well-equipped laboratories, workshops, and libraries.
  • Faculty: The quality of faculty members is also important when selecting an engineering college. Look for colleges that have experienced and qualified faculty members who can provide comprehensive education and guidance.
  • Placements: Another important factor to consider is the placement record of the college. Check if the college has a good track record of placing its students in reputable companies and if they offer assistance with job placements after graduation.

Overall, it is important to carefully consider your budget and requirements before deciding on an engineering college. If you can afford the higher fees, Thapar and Amity can be great choices. However, if you are looking for an affordable option that provides good quality education, CGC Landran can be a suitable option.

Which is the best university for me: UPES, Chitkara or CGC Landran? What are their average packages?

AP
Akash Parmar Posted On : April 20th, 2021
Studied at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (2020)

Both Chitkara and CGC Landran are at the same level. As far as placements are concerned, both of them offer excellent placements with well-developed placement cells.

UPES is definitely more concentrated on petroleum and chemical engineering. It also has some unique courses and a really good reputation and you will get to learn a lot. Fees might be a little expensive though.

My advice to you would be to not choose electronics and communication engineering at either of them because placements are not that great and you don’t want to end up with CSE students and learn coding in the last few months of your college.

The table below should help you out with placement statistics and fees regarding the same:

College

Fees

Hiring Companies

Average package

CGC Landran (B. Tech)

INR 92,000 (first year fees)

Wipro, Google, Infosys, Deloitte

INR 3 to 4 LPA

Chitkara University (B.E)

INR 1.74 lakhs (first year fees)

JCB India, L&T, Yamaha, DLF

INR 4.5 LPA

UPES (B. Tech)

INR 13.83 lakhs (total fees)

L&T, Wipro, Accenture, GEP Worldwide

NR 5-6 LPA

While the fees for UPES are quite high, you can expect to get a similar return on your investment. At the same time, you will not be pestered for admissions like in my brother’s case with regards to CGC Landran and CU. The faculty at UPES is very good too.
