Students’ centric learning is the main objective of grooming students over their stay on campus. The process is institutionalized & evolved gradually to shape the students of the future that they visualized. Faculty facilitates the process with planned resources created by the Institute. Major salient features & key programmes are given here under;
1) Syllabus is designed in a holistic way incorporating core basics subjects on physics; chemistry & maths; engineering subject covering core; elective & open elective. The course is designed by members of Board of Studies & approved by the Academic Council.
2) To integrate the students with practical learning three modules are designed each at the end of 1st, 2nd & 3rd year; during the vacation period as under;
· Civic Service & Corporate Responsibility (CSSR); for one month
· Industrial Orientation (IO); 8-10 industrial visits are carried out in 30-45 days
· Industrial Training (IT) - six weeks in plant training
All three practical learning interventions are a regular part of the programme. These are credit based & systematically planned; implemented as well as evaluated.
3) 10 % of total classes are delivered by experts from industry/academia who are invited to share their experiences. This is done practical for all subjects & it is facilitated by concerned faculty taking the subject.
4) Centres of Excellence (CoE) are created like:
5) Local Chapter for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is established to facilitate learning from the best of the resources from India & Abroad.
6) Students chapter run with the participation of industry are managed by students like Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Society of Quality (ASQ); Indian Institute of Welding (IIW)…etc
7) Internal Quality Enhancement Committees (IQEC) are well placed at the department/school/university level to monitor & enhance the practical learning taking place at all levels.
8) Capsules courses are planned for students – minimum three & maximum six during the graduation to facilitate additional learning to improve the relevance of the course offered by the university. It is planned that such courses are delivered by industry people.
9) Paper setting & answer sheet evaluation mechanism is well in place to ensure that subject learning outcomes are achieved.
10) Board of Studies (BoS) is constituted at each branch level & they meet at regular intervals. The BoS has two members each from Industry & reputed academic institutions to design & revise the curriculum which goes a long way to understand the perspectives of students & prepare them for the future.
11) Institute regularly carry out & participate in various accreditation processes of ISO/NAAC/NIRF so as it can continuously up-grade & enhance its relevance for industry – research orientation.
