How tough is it to change your branch from IT to CSE in Heritage Institute of Technology?

AP
Avinash Pathak Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
Studies B.Tech in Information Technology at Heritage Institute of Technology, 2022

Your question can be based on whether or not you are strictly capable of maintaining a YGPA above 8.5 following the first year.

  • The subjects allotted in the first semester do share most of the things in common, alongside 2 additional courses.
  • Moreover, the subjects allotted in the second semester are equally as difficult as the subjects of the previous semester.
  • For students who particularly did not have a Computer in their +2, then the course area named “Introduction to C” can be trickier to ace since its preparation needs practice.
  • It is crucial to note that a YGPA of 8.5 does not guarantee the chance of switching from IT to CSE.
  • It generally interprets that there are supposed to be more than half the students who would be applying for a branch change, and out of them, the only candidates shortlisted belong from the top 5 to 6.

It is suggested that you maintain a YGPA between 8.75 to more than 9 so as to secure the chance of branch change. You can undeniably ace the same with about 5 weeks of definite effort before the semester exams.

How tough is changing branches to mechanical in Heritage Institute of Technology?

DG
Debarshini Ghatak Posted On : September 10th, 2021
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (2020)

You will be able to change branches in Heritage Institute of Technology if you have a GPA of 8.5. It is very easy to score a GPA of 8.5 or above in the first year as all you will be studying is the basics.

There is also not much competition when it comes to changing to Mechanical as it is not that difficult. However, it is more difficult to change branches like CS to ECE.

Even if your CGPA is average, you can apply for the change in the branch. You will most likely be able to get your branch changed.

My WBJEE rank is 4503. I want a BTech in CSE. Can I get into Heritage Institute of Technology? What are some other government/private colleges for BTech CSE at this rank?

Both the choices are decent so you can choose either. But, as I don't know exactly which branch of DSU are you asking about; but if you are talking about DSU (Kumar swami layout) then go for it; and if not NHCE is better.

  • If you are hard-working go for DSU as placements for CSE and ISE are the same and you should prepare for the campus placements as well. In DSU the average and highest CTC offered is 4 LPA and 15 LPA.
  • If you are an average student in CSE, then NHCE offers 100% placements for CSE. In recent years the average CTC offered at the institute is 3 LPA.
  • If you are going to an engineering college in search of a decent job then go for NHCE.

And let me clear that, 100% placements mean there are no specifications of package you will be given. You might get a company to work with a 1 LPA salary or a 12 LPA salary depends on your caliber and knowledge.

Yes, I believe so. It's something I've heard from my friends at Heritage Institute of Technology. If you cancel your admission before the start of the semester, you will get a refund.

However, I strongly advise you to contact the Heritage Institute of Technology's information desk at their official contact phone number or may visit their official website for more information.

Which college is the best for computer science and engineering: UEM Kolkata, Heritage Institute of Technology, or CIEM?

SK
Sudeshna Kaur Posted On : July 13th, 2021
B.Tech from University of Engineering and Management, Jaipur (2018)

One of my close friends studied CSE at the Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata. According to her, they have a great faculty, well-maintained infrastructure, and an updated curriculum.

Heritage Institute provides better placement opportunities than UEM and CIEM Kolkata. It also offers good industrial exposure to its students through various kinds of workshops, seminars, and guest lectures.

UEM is a very new college so it cannot be compared with old institutions like Heritage or CIEM.

Categories Heritage Institute CIEM UEM
Course Fee 4.56 lakhs 3.57 lakhs 5.81 LPA
Highest CTC 25 LPA 21 LPA 12 LPA
Average CTC 12 LPA 10 LPA 8 LPA
Recruiting Companies Accenture, Cognizant, etc. Wipro, Infosys, etc. Byju’s, HCL, etc.

It is suggested that you go for Heritage Institute of Technology rather than CIEM or UEM in Kolkata. It will provide better prospects for your career.

Should I take CSE at B.P. Poddar or go for CSE at Heritage Institute of Technology through the management quota?

RS
Rohit Singhal Posted On : September 17th, 2021

Heritage would be far better for your career than B.P.Poddar, in terms of educational facilities and campus infrastructure. The environment is good and the members of the faculty are helpful and nice.

I have visited both of these colleges and am familiar with them. If you want to have a fantastic college experience, Heritage would prove to be the best choice for you.

It could be a bit pricey if you use Management Quota. However, HIT offers good placement for CSE. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered at the institute was 4 LPA and the highest was 16 LPA.

What should I take, IT in IEM or CSE in Heritage Institute of Technology?

SM
Sayantani Mukherjee Posted On : September 27th, 2021
Studied at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata

In terms of college, IEM and HIT both provide similar career opportunities in the IT sector. Major recruiters like TCS, Infosys, CTS, Capgemini from the IT sector visit both the institutes.

If you had to pick between the two engineering fields, you should always go with CS. If you select CS, you will be able to apply for a variety of government/public sector positions (ISRO, BARC, IOCL) after completing your B.tech. Only CS guys are qualified to apply for the majority of these government jobs.

Parameters  IEM Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata
Tuition fees (B.Tech) 5.88 lakhs 3.93 lakhs
Average CTC  INR 5-6 LPA INR 3.75 LPA
Highest CTC  72 LPA  16 LPA

As you will get similar opportunities you can choose either. Also, outside of WB, no one cares if you're from IEM or HIT. Unless you're from JU, everything is the same.

How can HIT (Heritage Institute of Technology) help my future?

PS
Piyali Singh Posted On : September 23rd, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineering, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (2021)

A degree from HIT will only be valuable if you put enough hard work into earning it. HIT could be a good institute or bad, it depends completely on your academic performance. One of my friends studied at HIT, and here’s what I got to know from him.

  • The facilities provided at this college are very poor and the faculty are not very great.
  • They are not very qualified and some teachers lack the art of teaching.
  • They cannot explain the concepts in a clear way to the students and these things make the students lose interest in the subject.
  • And not only Heritage Institute of Technology, all other private colleges in West Bengal have very poor academic performance.
  • Placements and these colleges are mediocre.
  • But the government colleges are doing very well and providing very good opportunities to the students.

All other colleges in West Bengal except for Jadavpur University , IIT Kharagpur and IIEST Shibpur are very poor and don't have any good facilities or placements although they tell themselves to be the best in the industry. Don't keep any high expectations from these colleges as you will be highly disappointed.

Hence, HIT won't be able to help you much in your career because of its poor academics and placements.

Which is better: NPTI or ECE at Heritage Institute of technology in terms of placement?

SG
Sauvik Guha Posted On : September 3rd, 2021
National Power Training Institute (2020)

I have a few friends from the National Power Training Institute (NPTI). Based on the conversations I had with them, I can give you some insight regarding the institute.

  • NPTI is started by the Power Ministry of Government of India and a student from there can get jobs at thermal power plants or related sectors such as distribution, boiler manufacturing, etc.
  • However, in recent years, the government has started pushing renewable energy aggressively and newer thermal power plants are not coming up at the same pace as they used to a few years back. This narrows down your scope of placement after studies.

So choose the course you want to do keeping your interests in mind along with the future scope of the industry in consideration.
