These are the fees structure for B.Tech courses and it doesn't include the hostel rent. Moreover, the facilities provided at the hostel are not much good as per the charges. So it is better to look for a PG or take a room rather than staying at a college hostel.

The facilities provided are very good. The faculty and academic environment are decent. The placements are also very nice, as many students get placed in core companies like Idea Cellular, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, and many other IT companies.

What are the advantages of doing an MBBS from AIIMS over other medical colleges?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 30th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Rather than looking for the perks of doing an MBBS from AIIMS, you should be asking what would you be losing if you are unable to make it into AIIMS and if that loss is worth worrying about. In a medical college, most of your UG time goes into exams and studies and you are left with no time to analyze where your interest lies - Medicine or no medicine / USMLE or AIPG

  • AIIMS offers top-notch education and training to its students, with a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on experience. This can help students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful doctors.
  • AIIMS has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, which can enhance the learning experience for students. This includes modern laboratories, research facilities, and advanced medical technology.
  • AIIMS has a strong reputation both nationally and internationally, which can be beneficial for students when it comes to securing jobs or pursuing further education.
  • AIIMS has a diverse and inclusive community of students and faculty, which can provide a supportive and enriching environment for learning and personal growth.

AIIMS does not have campus selections and all doctors are paid equally in the beginning whether you belong to an AIIMS or not. The medical field does not value brand names but it's our personal efforts that actually matter.

What is the difference between IIT and BITS Pilani?

DH
Damini Hedge Posted On : June 27th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2021)

Here are a few basic points of difference between IIT and BITS Pilani.

  • The competition at IITs is more intense than at BITS Pilani as it attracts better peers
  • The cultural, sports and tech clubs are active in both institutes so I dont think they are comparable. BITS Goa even has club outings to beaches and treks.
  • BITS Pilani has a very hectic academic environment here, especially in the first year. The duration of semesters is longer in the first year and studies take place 6 days a week against IIT Bombays 5 days a week.
  • IITs have strict campus and hostel rules while life at BITS is comparatively relaxed and free of restrictions giving a sense of freedom to its students.
  • BITS Pilani has slightly better placements with an average package of around INR 30.37 LPA against IIT Bombay's average package of INR 23.26 LPA.
  • The hostel facilities of BITS are way better than the old IIts though the mess food is somewhat similar. IIT Bombay has better sports facilities in comparison to BITS.
  • BITS Pilani has an excellent coding culture and its large number of GSoC selections is a testament to the same.
  • BITS has a no-attendance policy while IIT Bombay has a 75–80% attendance rule in a few courses.
  • BITS Pilani fees are as high as ?5.42 Lakhs for the first year alone while IIT Bombay fees are INR 218500 for the first year. BITS fees are almost double IIT fees.
  • BITS Pilani has a no-reservation policy thus the students are equally smart and have been admitted solely on the basis of merit. IITs on the other hand have a reservation policy and thus the student body is a mixed bag of toppers and average students.
  • IIT Bombay has a better research culture than BITS Pilani.

Overall both BITS and old IITs have their unique strengths and weaknesses and the ultimate decision should be on the basis of your personal preferences.

What should I do to get into IIM Bangalore?

RS
Rani Sharma Posted On : December 12th, 2022
Deputy Manager at State Bank of India (SBI) (2019–present)

To grant admission, IIMs administer the Common Admission Test, also known as the CAT.

While the CAT score is the primary criterion, IIMs also use interviews, group discussions, and written ability tests to evaluate candidates after the CAT. Aside from that, they consider the candidate's past academic record as well as work experience.

So, to gain admission to IIM Bangalore, the procedure would be as follows:

  • Begin preparing for the CAT.

  • Fill out the CAT application form in the provided window.

  • Attend the CAT and achieve a high percentile. (Something like 99.5 or higher)

  • If you are selected, you must attend their GDPI round and perform well.

If everything goes well, you will receive an admission call from IIM B.

Will I get into IET, Lucknow if I have 1286 in GNGL and 9758 in general?

RP
Raina Parulekar Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studied at University of Mumbai (2019)

If you have secured a general rank of 9758 in the UPSEE examination, the probability of you getting admission into branches like CSE, IT, ECE, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in IET Lucknow is less.

  • You can surely try out for Chemical or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Most probably, you would have to wait till the last round of counseling.
  • My brother secured a rank of 9400 last year and was not eligible for any of the branches which students usually prefer for engineering in India.

You have not specified the course in your question. So, here’s a list of the cutoff ranks for the year 2021 of all the courses offered by the institute:

Courses General OBC SC ST
MBA 87-192 242-464 297-1057 -

What is your review of Manipal Institute Of Technology (Manipal)?

AG
Alka Gupta Posted On : September 8th, 2023
Studied at Manipal Institute Of Technology

As a student of Manipal Institute of Technology, here are some things I would like to share with you-

  • Campus Life- Manipal offers a great campus life. There are student clubs and technical clubs. Technical clubs include- The Solar Mobil Project and Formula Manipal. The dramatics societies don’t perform much but they are a great place for networking.
  • Sports facilities- The college has its own semi professional leagues- MIT Cricket League and MIT Football League.
  • Food- The campus has good eateries including two Mexican restaurants. Even the hostel mess is decent over here.
  • Academics- The curriculum and labs need to be updated, especially for ME and CE. Over here, learning is theoretical rather than practical. Like any other engineering college, you’ll face lots of assignments and tests. Teachers give importance only to marks. This is especially true for CSE, EEE and ECE branches.
  • Faculty- The faculty for mechanical and civil is liberal and qualified. Unfortunately however, most teachers at MIT look down upon students with low grades.
  • Crowd- The crowd is quite diverse. You’ll interact with people from various cultural backgrounds. Manipal gives ample freedom and opportunities to its students for their personality development. However, the fees are very high.
  • Placements- Except for the top 10% in CSE and ECE, low packages are offered to students. Majority ends up getting mass recruited in brands like TCS. Student intake is increasing, and number of core companies visiting the campus is decreasing. Thus, very average placements are secured for such a high fee.
  • Higher Studies- Manipal will offer support for your higher studies. Opting for an MSc. after your graduation from Manipal, is a good option.

At Manipal you’ll develop good interpersonal skills. But the fees aren’t justified considering its faculty, academics and placement quality.

What are the hostel accommodation charges of NMIMS Shirpur and Mumbai Campus? Is it included in the fees showed on the website?

GH
Gargi Halder Posted On : June 29th, 2021
B.Tech CSE, IIT BHU (2018)

Well, no the hostel fees are not included in the course fees shown on the website, you have to pay them separately. The accommodation charges for the NMIMS Shirpur campus and Mumbai campus vary from each other. I have friends studying on both campuses and they are currently paying the following charges.

  • For NMIMS Shirpur campus the fees are roughly 1,20,000 per year which includes both accommodation and mess food. There are separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus itself where you get facilities like Dining Hall TV Room, Reading Room, PlayGround, Transport Facility, Medical Facility, Staff Quarters, Gym Facility, Saloons.
  • For NMIMS Mumbai, the hostel fee can range from 1.3 to 1.5 lakh for 10 months which can be quite expensive. You get full-fledged hostels for girls and boys and three rented residential accommodations. The facilities are great and almost the same as the Shirpur campus. However, many students usually form groups and rent a flat near the campus which is less costly.

All in all, hostel fees especially at the Mumbai campus can be very expensive despite four-seater rooms. Also, preference is given to students who are from outside Mumbai. If you have budget constraints, you can easily rent a flat near the campus with your friends as most students do.

How do I convert the University of Mumbai's 7 point scale CGPA to a percentage?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : July 7th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

The process for calculating the percentage is given below

  • O Grade = 7 Pointer = 70 and above
  • A Grade = 6 Pointer = 60 to 69.99
  • B Grade = 5 Pointer = 55 to 59.99
  • C Grade = 4 Pointer = 50 to 54.99
  • D Grade = 3 Pointer = 45 to 49.99
  • E Grade = 2 Pointer = 40 to 44.99
  • F Grade = 1 Pointer = 39.99 and below
You need to score a minimum of 30 to pass the examination. Initially, you need to convert the 7-point CGPA to a 10-point scale.

If a person has a 5.53 CGPA on 7 point scale CGPA then - (5.53 * 10)/7 = 7.9, which is a 10-point scale CGPA

Now calculate the percentage - 7.9 CGPA*9.3 (standard number used by companies that come for placements) = 73.47%
