Once you come to the hostel, you must surround yourself with quality people and concentrate more on learning. You will get a huge amount of opportunities in CGC. You must not forget to attend all the TPP classes. This becomes the main reason why some students are not able to get placements. If you do not attend the classes, you will get debarred from TPP and this will also lower your chances to sit into the placements.

Here are some information about the hostel: 

If you are moving into the Hostel for the first time, then it is not going to be easy. You will have to take care of some things and here is a list of them -

1. Money Cards: You need to keep your Debit Cards/ Credit Cards handy and safe. Make use of net banking if possible. You will probably order a lot of things online once you move to the hostel.
2. Documents/Certificates: You need to keep all of your necessary certificates/ documents in PDF format.
3. 1 Laptop and 1 Pen-drive.
4. 2 bed-sheets.
5. Personal Grooming Products.
6. Lock for your cupboard.
7. 1 plate, 1 Bowl & 1 Glass.
8. Sports Item (Football, Badminton Racket, Cricket Bat etc.).
9. Books: if you are into reading then you must bring good self help books.

There are still some small things that you will need to purchase so make sure you have at least 3,000-4,000 in your ATM card. If you are lucky and are able to get good roommates then you don’t have to worry about anything.

Yes, there is a dress code for every Tuesday and Thursday for students of CGC Landran.

The dress code is as listed below:

• White Shirt
• Grey Pant
• Official tie as given by the college
• Formal shoes.

Though there is a provision of a dress code, the institute is not very strict about it. There is no policy of fining the students for the violation of the dress code. There is also an optional Royal Blue CGC coat (blazer) for engineering and a Black CGC coat for management students.

Regardless of the dress code, students with casual dresses are found on campus at most. Most students wear the college shirt with jeans (Black/Blue/Gray). Even if your HOD catches you not wearing the uniform on Tuesday or Thursday, they are not likely to say anything. But the Jhanjeri campus is quite strict about the dress code. They also check students' IDs at the entrance.

Both CGC Landran and Chandigarh University offer Computer Science Engineering and are AICTE approved institutes. When comparing the course at the two colleges, one can consider the parameters of placement, curriculum, fee structure and eligibility. The following points mentioned below highlight these aspects:

• The college follows the curriculum followed by IKGPTU, Jalandhar, and includes a mix of theory and practical knowledge.

• The program is aimed at improving students’ knowledge in design, management of information systems,s and hardware and software tools.

Chandigarh University:

• The program focuses on research-based learning and covers a number of topics based on hardware, software, data management and design.
• The institute has industry-sponsored infrastructure which aids in the best learning experience for students.
• Subjects included in the course are Mobile Computing, Open Source, and Open Standard as well as emerging technologies like Internet of Things.

Placements:

CGC Landran:

• Students serve positions of developers, design engineers, solution integrators and network administrators, etc. after graduation.
• Companies like Sapient, Infosys Cognizant, TCS and Google recruit students annually.
• The highest package offered was INR 35 lakhs per annum with an average salary of 4 to 8 lakhs per annum.

Chandigarh University:

• Most students are placed in the IT sector and are offered jobs for programmers, web developers, E-commerce specialists, etc.
• The top recruiters at the university include Google, NEC Corporation, SAIC, IBM, ASUSTEK Computer Inc, etc.
• The highest package offered was INR 30 lakhs per annum with an average salary of INR 5 lakhs per annum.

Fee structure-wise, CGC Landran is much more economical with placement statistics being more or less the same as Chandigarh University. Students can further compare faculty to finally make a choice between the two colleges.

Yes, you can withdraw your fees after one month of joining but there are a few terms and conditions. A friend of mine did withdraw his fees and noticed that the terms are slightly different as per offline and online transactions-

In case of Offline Fee Payment -

• You will be provided with a full fee after the authorities have deducted Rs. 1000 as processing fee. It will be implied only if you withdraw your fee after admissions. 
• You will not get a refund if you wish to withdraw after the classes have begun. 
• You will receive a refund of your hostel fees after a month from the month of withdrawal. If you leave the hostel without completing the year then security deposit will not be refunded.
• A friend of mine made the request to withdraw his fee and his refund was made on his prescribed application form by the admission/registrar office. Along with the fee refund application, you will also be required to submit the ID card, Original Fee Receipt & Due Clearance Certificate.
• Refunds will then be processed by the Finance Office of the University after they receive approval from the Director and will be returned to you by cross cheque in your name after 90 days from the date of receipt.
• All disputes about this issue shall fall within the jurisdiction of Mohali, Punjab for CGC, Landran. You can consider the registrar of the concerning institute to be the legal person for all such matters.

If any technical issue is found in online fee payment -

The office can be contacted if following situations occur:

• during the online payment through credit/debit card, your payment gets debited and the internet goes down due to some external server malfunction or any other similar happening. 
• your system is not able to generate the required acknowledgement given to weak internet connection.
• the payment gets deducted from your account and does not reach the institute’s account or if your payment gets debited twice due to internet issues.

The college states that they shall not be responsible in any case until the course fee paid by a student is credited to the Bank Account of the College. If credited, the refund policy will be applied as per the College’s guidelines.
