The entire experience of being on the NIT Surathkal campus will completely shape you and your personality for the future. They pay attention to everything that’s essential for growth apart from academics helps a great deal to build a community of like-minded people among the groups of students.

Choosing NIT Surathkal is a wiser option because of the following reasons:

• Curriculum: This is regularly updated keeping in sync with the industry standards and requirements. The research conducted by the department is very thoughtful and helpful to all the students. They provide ample guidance to the students in their respective subjects of interest.
• Faculty: The faculty here is quite impressive. They have expertise in their fields. Some of the renowned faculty members are also from IISC Bangalore or other prestigious institutes globally.
• Placementrecords: For both, CSE and IT, the placement records are striking consistently each year. If you have successfully scored fair enough CGPA (around 8), you have high chances of getting recruited by the top companies such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, to name a few.

You can face some difficulties when it comes to the weather around the campus. During summers, the climate gets very hot. Being an M.Tech student, you need to do self-study a lot.

There is very little demand for civil engineers here in the Indian markets. Unfortunately, not many skilled civil engineers are output from any Indian engineering college. 

• The curriculum of all engineering colleges hasn’t been updated for over a decade and it is not at all in sync with the current needs and requirements of the civil industry.
• Most of the civil engineers who pass out from the reputed colleges across India are either offered computer programming jobs with a package of 5-10 LPA on an average or become managers in the industry.
• The reality of civil engineering in India is quite a sad sight to look at and the students are paying with their twisted career choices for it.

There is no doubt to the fact that NIT Surathkal is an impressive institute with reputed faculty guiding the students, with an exception for the branch of civil engineering. Either the students are not able to develop sufficient interest in the same or the curriculum is not such that invokes interest or keeps them motivated enough. Moreover, it is also not in accordance with the industrial standards and needs.

According to my knowledge, College of Engineering, Pune is not that popular. When you do a basic google search, most suggestions say it is a good college. Many people have also compared it with VNIT Nagpur while a few also say that it is probably better than VNIT.

• When these two colleges are compared to NIT Surathkal, it makes NIT Surathkal the best. This institute ranks as one of the top 3 NITs in our country – NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal and NIT Surathkal. 
• If placements are your concern, they are pretty good. Additionally, the average packages are also increasing every year.
• Even if your grades are low, you will still land a job in some company. However, It is advised to study hard if you want a plethora of opportunities to be open for you. 
• There are quite a few top notch companies that pay higher salaries every year. 
• Most packages are 10+ and increasing even now.

Here are some basic facts about both the colleges - 

As of 2021, the highest international package offered was INR 83 LPA with one student receiving a domestic package of INR 49 LPA, with more than 286 different companies visiting the institute. The top recruiters here include Oracle, Uber, Amazon, Goldman Sachs and Google.

A major plus point is also the beach is quite close to the college. If you are looking for a drawback, it is probably the food. You will find a north Indian and south Indian mess but the food is nothing to boast about.

Overall, you will definitely have a good time at NIT Surathkal. You will have to research a little more about Pune.

The Artists Forum club at NIT Surathkal is one of the most active clubs of this college. It is the fine arts club. 

• It is very active all throughout the year and organizes a bunch of events and activities. 
• It even organizes two trips in a year and is also known for a good team building and hangout spirit.
• Being a fresher, you will realise that the team will become your second family within a few months. 
• If you are considering joining it, the club recruits people in the beginning of the odd semester in August/September.
• The process is quite simple. You will be given an art based test, submit a resume and give a personal interview. 
• A good plus point is that it is a transparent body without any language or region bias. 
• The three main qualities the club is looking for are creativity, teamwork and dedication.
• It organizes art competitions like Art Beat, decorates for a few fests in college and other traditional festivals like Diwali. The best event is known as Udaan, which is a kite flying and beach festival celebrated on the day of Makar Sankranti. 
• Other than this, fests like Kalakriti and a cultural fest called Incident are some of the activities the club participates in.

You will also see a lot of inter-club activities and workshops taking place and trips planned every semester. Freshers, Job Treat and Farewell are a few other major events. When you join the club you will realise that all these festivals are celebrated by the entire club as a family. You will definitely enjoy your time here.

MNNIT Allahabad offers similar opportunities for IT and CSE branches. Other than a few subjects, the curriculum, faculty, and career opportunities are more or less the same for NIT Allahabad. 

Though Surathkal is promising a better university life with beaches and all. 

NIT Allahabad houses one of the country's biggest and brightest CSE departments. Here you're getting a good, competitive, and coding-oriented environment. Seniors are very supportive and the course is good. But the location is quite remote so if you belong to a metro city, you will be disappointed with the city life. 

In terms of placements, both institutes are almost on the same level. 

Another important aspect you can factor in while choosing is the distance of the institute from your home and choose the nearlest. 

You will have to consider quite a few things before you decide between these 3 places. Most of my friends agreed that ECE is one of the toughest branches in engineering. 

• CSE and ECE, however, come under the same branch of software engineering. If you directly compare these two branches, CSE is much better than ECE. 
• Coming to the colleges, you can place NIT Surathkal and NIT Warangal in the tier 1 institutes. You will definitely have a lot of exposure here and some of the best students are from these popular indian engineering colleges.
• You will also see that most of them practice computer programming and become computer engineers. 
• Given their position, you can expect them to earn up to INR 5 to 50 lakhs per annum. This pay will also depend on what skills you earn. 
• Most of the companies will not look at your academic credentials. It is advised to you to develop your TopCoder and GitHub profiles since these are the profiles that your employer will look at.

Additionally, other job roles you can expect from these institutes include managers in various industries. These will highly depend on your luck and personal leaning. You can expect a pay of INR 5 to 15 lakhs per annum. However, a drawback is that these companies look at your academic profile heavily. So if you have a lower grade, it is possible that this could stand as a setback.

Finally, when it comes to Tier 3 colleges NIT Rourkela is better, the job prospects from these colleges are not that great. You can expect to have a salary of INR 3 to 4 lakhs per annum with most jobs in service based companies.

IT in NITK is the most sought-after branch after CS and EC. You should also be aware of the status of NITS and BITS. NITs are usually national-level institutes, but the onus of choosing your preferred branch and institute finally depends on you.

NITs have always been better than private institutes. Look at your area of interest. Do you like to tinker with electronic objects or is coding your forte? Once you clear this out, you will have a clear idea about what to choose.

But, if you are unable to make a decision, look at placements if you are going to look for a job in the future. Students from CS and IT get paid really well with higher chances of bagging a job as compared to other branches.

As far as these two colleges are concerned, NITK has better placements for IT. BITS Goa is good too. Overall, you will not regret choosing either of these two colleges but in the end, it all boils down to your interests.  

I have a few friends at MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Surathkal. Based on the reviews I got from them here are some of the things that you should know in order to choose the right institute for you.

Curriculum: CS at MNNIT Allahabad and IT at NIT Surathkal have a similar curriculum with the exception of a few subjects.

Placements: Placements at both MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Surathkal are quite good. Here are the recent placement highlights of the institutes.

At Surathkal, you may face some problems regarding language and food. If you are okay with these issues then you can go for NIT Surathkal. Choose either of these two institutes based on what is more convenient for you.

Among these two courses and colleges, you should probably choose EEE at NITK. Having to know some people studying in both these institutes, I can say that the infrastructure and facilities provided at NIT Goa are very poor, it is also below NITK in terms of rankings. 

• The campus of NITK is very beautiful with lush green surroundings. NIT Goa is much smaller and might be built inside a state government-run college. Students can enjoy leisure time along with their studies. 
• The faculty is very talented and highly experienced. 
• The course curriculum is updated according to the recent industry trends.
• The placement opportunities are excellent. A lot of companies visit the campus for interviews. 
• NITK is also better if you want to do higher studies like machine learning, etc.

Hence, choosing EEE at NITK will be a better option as the faculty, infrastructure, and placements of this college is great and there is also a very good scope of higher studies.
