Do freshers at NITIE get placement packages as good as work-experienced people?

VG

Studied PGDIE from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2017)

Placement opportunities and good placement packages depend on your abilities and skills. At NITIE, freshers and experienced candidates receive equal opportunities.

Placement packages depend on the type of job and the company. For instance, FMCG companies prefer freshers over experienced candidates. While consultant profiles are best suited for experienced people. They do not offer packages as good as FMCG companies.

However, placements depend on your hard work and the skills with which you prepare for it. It is always a benefit to adding work experience to your CV as it increases placement opportunities.

For the recent placement season, 30% of the batch had work experience of 25-36 months, 38% with 1-24 months work experience, and 31% of the batch were freshers. Highest CTC increased to 46.5 LPA and the average domestic salary increased to 20.5 LPA.

Yes, NITIE Mumbai gives fee concessions to the general category students also. The form of fee concession is merit cum need a form of scholarship.

The simple meaning of this merit cum need scholarship is that a student has to be eligible for some criteria to avail it. To be eligible, a student needs to maintain considerable academic aggregate and should be from an economically weaker background.

What type of questions are asked in an interview for a PGDIM course in NITIE, Mumbai?

RR
Ravi Ranjana Rai Posted On : August 13th, 2021
Post Graduate Diploma Industrial Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2020)

One of my close friends recently got admission to NITIE Mumbai. In the interview, he was asked mostly about his final year engineering project and his work experience, education, and about his skills. To clear your interview you will have to prepare very hard and will have to practice a lot. Here are a few things you should do for your preparation.

  • Introduction: You will be asked to introduce yourself. So prepare a good introduction about yourself where you should cover all the major points you want to highlight. Tell them about your academics, hobbies, extracurricular activities, and also about your personal life.
  • Project: You will be asked about your graduation project. So you should know everything about the project. They will ask about the topic, project objective, your contributions, and what were the achievements.
  • Work Experience: If you have any prior work experience, then they will ask questions about it. There will be questions about your job role, your experience, and your achievements. And if you are a fresher, then prepare 3-4 engineering subjects, as they will ask you questions based on that.
  • Current Affairs: Stay updated with current affairs. Read newspapers, magazines and watch the news regularly. This will help you in GD too.

NITIE has a mock admission process called B-Cube. This will give you an idea about the GD and Interview.

Is it worth doing a PGDIE course at NITIE at 29, after having a 5-year gap after graduation and a 3-year work experience in a PSU? Do placements get affected because of the age factor?

RB
Rohini Bose Posted On : August 13th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

Answering such a question is a bit typical as it is important to know whether you are working or just asking. If you are working or due to some reason there is a gap of 5 years after graduation then you should have substantial reason during your PI.

Another crucial factor will be what the main reason is for the 5-year gap after graduation. Just in case,

  • If you are a female candidate and left work due to marriage, childbirth, and relocation to a different city, the recruiters will tend to be more cooperative.
  • If you do not have any illnesses or other severe burdens recruiters will be skeptical of hiring you as it shows that you lack the motivation to work.
  • But, if you are from PSU you would be preferred in final interviews. I would suggest you with such experience in PSU and 5 years of gap your best bet would be towards consulting. Though, it could be a bit difficult getting into FMCG.

Apart from all this, if you want to join NITIE for placements, I think the average package is pretty good now and you will get at least 15 LPA if you are a sincere person or at the worst someone will get only 10 LPA for sure. Better you prepare yourself with convincing reasons and joining NITIE would be the best option.

Which is a better college for finance: NITIE or SJMSOM?

SP
Shreya Prasad Posted On : August 12th, 2021
B. Com from Lady Shree ram college, Delhi University

I think I can give you some insight regarding NITIE and SJMSOM since I have friends from both institutes. Both are nearly identical, however, SJMSOM may be a better choice because NITIE promotes itself as an Operations majors institution, whereas SJMSOM promises to cover all fields. As a result, you may have more prospects in the finance industry at SJMSOM than at NITIE.

The table below has a brief comparison of the two institutes.

Parameters  NITIE SJMSOM
Course fee 13 lakhs (approx) 9 lakhs
Placement rate 100% 100%
Average salary package 19 lakhs 20 lakhs
Highest salary package 46 lakhs 34 lakhs

So, going by the above-mentioned factors, I will say SJMSOM may be a better alternative for Finance.

No. you don't have to necessarily prepare a resume for NITIE PGDIE GD/PI. Instead, you will be required to fill out your application form carefully. Every minute detail regarding yourself has to be filled in as the interviewers will be probing questions based on the application form only. The interviewer will have a soft copy of your application form with them.

It's highly advisable to prepare questions regarding your work experience project or internship project if you are a fresher.

Which is better - doing M.Tech from IITs or going for NITIE Mumbai?

RK
Rishabh Khandelwal Posted On : August 13th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (2019)

Having to know some people studying in both these colleges, I can say that they are equally good. You can opt for any one of them, their respective programs are also good. They are recognized as Centres of Excellence by MHRD, Govt of India.

The choice mainly depends on the individual and their preferences. You should go for the one you are enthusiastic about.

  • NITIE offers 3 courses, where the selection is through GATE scores.
  • These include Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing Management.
  • These courses are a mixture of technical and business management.
  • IITs offer M.Tech through GATE exam scores.
  • It involves core specialization and nothing about industrial management.

So, the selection of the college and the course entirely depends on you. Go through them and then decide which will be a better option for your career.
